Mike, thanks for your message about the conditions in Iraq as found in your 'about' page. You already know (obviously)how the press here reports it.....

Thanks too, for your service, and for keeping us safe!

Were you aware of the bar-fight, and the fact that an OSU player sustained a broken nose, and was hospitalized after being assaulted in a bar near Marshall's campus? Marshall players were 'celebrating' the end of two-a-day practices. I don't think the guy was a starter, but I hope the OSU win was in part due to the team rallying around him.

Stay safe!

Yeah...

well the genius that stripped Lydell Ross of the ball in the 2nd QTR actually chased after a guy who had a gun and had been suspended himself I think for the Troy game. I dont know what the collective IQ of the Marshall team was, but seeing some of their posts on another forum I go too, I think it might be a bit higher than some of their fans :)

Marshall must be Randy Moss' alma mater. http://www.nfl.com/partners/aol?http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/12576

It's a long story, but I live in Marshall's home town. Only two schools in the state play division 1 football. I went to WVU to college instead. Marshall HATES WVU. I can attest to the obnoxious (and dumb) fans down here. I can't stand to be around them. They cannot be objective and they really think Marshall is a big time program. They can't understand why Top 20 football programs won't play them in Huntington, like it's their divine right or something. The stadium only seats 38,000 and they have only filled it 3 times at that since it opened 10+ years ago. Marshall does play above its head for big games like OSU or Tennessee, but it has very few of those. Then they fall flat during other games like Troy, each of the last two years. Not a consistent program at all.

The guy who was suspended was the subject of a huge controversy. He was suspended for HALF a game during Troy for the gun/assault arrest, but only after tremendous public pressure because the Marshall coach looks the other way. The public pressure came from people reminding the school it had recently been on probation for recruiting and perks' violations, and a second bout might result in more permanent NCAA sanctions (bordering on the SMU 'death sentence' a few years back).

Yeah it is...

The main reason why Marshall is in D-1A is because of Moss and Pennington. They brought the football program a lot of notice in the mid and late 90's....

Still though, they are a MAC school. If they played in the Big Easy or the Big Ten they would only win 2 or 3 games each year....

I dont know about the death penalty EVER being applied again. SMU has had such a hard time playing football since that happened that I dont think they would ever hand it out again.

Alabama's transgressions were much much worse than SMU's ever were, but they didnt get it. Of course it is Alabama....
