LOL. The judge however was not my type, fortunately. Thus the organ above the neck trumped that below the waist.

How do you center proportional fonts, anyway? Centering only works if both spaces and back spaces account for a certain number of letters.

I learned this the first time I used WordPerfect doing a resume. I used spaces to try and "indent" my text and wondered why they didn't look right. Had nothing to do with centering, but prior to that, I had only used a typewriter and an old Word for DOS where centering wasn't an issue.

OK, but have you ever seen pick and peck, or whatever its called? That's what my Dad did. It was painful to watch.

That's the way my father typed as well. But somebody who types like that is not capable of these pristinely-formatted memos, with no errors. There's no XXXXX to cover up typos, no apparent use of liquid paper or erasers, and no typos, period. Even the best of typists make errors, yet there's no such errors in these documents.

Somebody who could type with only two fingers also would not be capable of such flawless indenting and centering, not to mention the use of the superscript th. Why would Killian use a typist for personal memos to himself? It doesn't pass the smell test.

Well thank goodness for that.

I was having Ally McBeal flashbacks with you playing the part of Fish.

Good point. It was more difficult then to send typos to cyberspace. I remember those days well in college. That is why I used onion paper or whatever it was called. I still have scar tissue from those days. The bad "selfish hedonist" Torie wishes that I had had the chutzpah to tell my Dad I needed a higher allowance to hire a typist. Of course, I lacked the imagination to suggest that I should just dictate into a tape recorder, and have it transcribed. I picked that habit up when I was hired by a law firm. At that point, the long nightmare was finally over.

I am disconnected from popular culture. Thus, I don't pick up on any of that to which you refer. I like actually being a pop cultural fossil (anything much after the Beatles era is really outside my intellectual repertoire). But feel free to help me with some of this, freepmail or otherwise.

I taught myself to type when I was 13 -- my mother had an old typing book that I learned from. I did this because my handwriting is horrendous, and teachers would complain when I would do book reports and such. ;)
