Thanks Doc!
Good morning! Happy pseudo-Monday!
Glad to hear you are OK ksen!
going back to bed.... try to keep it down.
I love your egg comparison pictures... ;-)
The new egg is purty!
Joshua ate it as part of a french toast over the weekend.
Steve took the shell and is going to feed it to his worms. (He has a worm bin at work.)
What's the name of the company who does these video lessons for you?
Part of Bob Jones University.
Good morning!
Glad to hear you're OK, ksen! And that you have power!
Well, I had an adventure of sorts yesterday, but not of the sort I was looking for. We didn't end up doing much of a serious hike - just went up in the woods by Dad's, scouting out the places where we're gonna snowshoe in a few months (c'mon SNOW!), and a little further than we went on the 'shoes last year. Then in the afternoon, I went to visit my friend Therese - they're moving down to Florida in a week (great timing, no?), so this was a last visit.
When I went to leave, it turned out I had left my lights on. How dumb can you be??? That's the first time I've ever done that, though, and it was because I had left the keys in the ignition since they live even farther out in the boonies than Dad. The van makes a dinging noise if I leave the keys in OR if the lights are on, but I didn't think anything of it since the keys were in. *sigh*
Therese is in a wheelchair and doesn't drive, so she couldn't help me, of course. And her parents weren't really sure how to do it either. I called Dad, but he said "here's what you do once you find some jumper cables - and you need to learn to do it for yourself. Call me IF you absolutely can't get it started and I'll come help you."
I'm terrified of electricity. So this was about my worst nightmare.
But we got out their old, rather rusty jumper cables, moved their van over, and sort of got everything hooked up. Nothing - my van just clicked when I turned the key. Resituated the cables and let it run awhile. Nothing. Again. Nothing. All the while my heart going a million miles an hour 'cause I was scared I wuz gonna blow something up...
Finally after trying for a lonnnng time, we gave up and called another neighbor, who came over with a new set of jumper cables, hooked 'em up in two seconds, and the van started right up. *phew* So it was the jumper cables that were bad.
I guess the upside is that I now know how to jump a car - I've attached the cables lots and lots of times. ;-) And I'll be picking up a set of cables (to be put somewhere dry and safe - I have a compartment where they'll fit) so I don't get stranded somewhere this winter.
There are things like that that are just good to know. I don't know how to change a tire!
Well, I have AAA now, so I don't worry about it so much. But it used to bother me a lot. I always imagined I could figure it out (I've seen it done a few times).
Woah- I just cruised through their dvd catalog. What a marvelous service! I'm especially impressed with the science they offer. I think it's great.
We really love it. I don't just sit the kids down in front of a TV and walk off (although it is nice to be able to now and then!) Mostly I sit right beside them or on the couch watching, because Matthew never is without some sort of question or "Could you explain these instructions more clearly" type thing.
And then that is where I really shine, if I may boast for a bit.
I can take what the teacher in the video is trying to get across and put it into ways that my particular son will understand...him being my child after all and I know the ways to teach him, having taught him almost everything from walking, talking and bicycle riding!
The tapes are a guide for ME more than a teaching instruction for him!
*shudder*
I had enough stress when the guy that was jumping the car accidentally let the red and black grips bump one another after he had them hooked on his (running) truck, and they sparked!
Whew! Glad you survived your adventure without blowing anything up! ;^)
You say that like itsuh bad thing.
Glad to hear yer okay bro.
Mornin' folks.
Back to work, back to school, back to gym...
Tryin' to get re-organized here. Lots to do this week here and at home.
We bought Luke a new bed yesterday at IKEA. We hope to have his room redone by the time he gets back. It's just moving furniture out and in. We're selling some of the more baby/toddler-ish stuff at the consignment sale.
When we're done I'll post pics.
