Cool. Thanks! I think we can handle a box in a cool room!
St. Helens does this once in awhile. It can't blow much, there isn't enough of it left. The little quakes are just magma movement, more about building a new mountain than blowing one up. St. Helens is a show that is already over for this century, methinks! Rainier is the one I'd buy tickets to see!

I should say : God be with you and your family!!
You can make a REAL good fresh salsa that will keep for months if you freeze it. If you have access to jalapenos, I'd say get a handful of those, a medium onion and blend that all with the tomatoes and some cilantro. Keep it one night in the fridge to let it 'set' and then use at will or freeze it. I love fresh salsa and its incredibly easy to make. I also like to sprinkle in some cumin (not too much!) and garlic and salt and pepper.
Thanks for the well wishes. I don't think it'll be that bad here. I will be in touch through Ruthy.
All finished preparing here. I'd like to run to the store and pick up some more food, but I'm waiting for my mom to get back from work.
I'm going to go outside and take some pics in case we get a nasty squall through here. Before and after purposes. ;-)
A big thanks to everyone who is praying for us down here. Until this baby makes landfall, I'll be biting my nails down to nubs. *grin*
Check back in with us at your first opportunity! I worry about you till we hear!
Post some pics of your shuttered up house!
Stay safe Ruthy.
Just took a walk through the neighborhood, could hear the sound of hammers banging and tapping just about everywhere.
Since they are now considering the possibility of a cat 4, am going to put back up the shutters that are down, even though the storm is currently projected to land 120 miles or so from us.
Was talking to a Haitian guy yesterday who helps me out sometimes, he still doesn't know how his family in Haiti is.
Kevin, I hope you are doing OK.
Yes indeed... several "visual moments" seemed to be deliberately based on pulp movie serials of the 30s & 40s: the robots flying across the sky, close-up shot of hands with fingers pointing (I leaned over and whispered to Rose, "Look! Up in the sky!") and many, many more (trying not to give away too much!) Definately a DVD we'll be buying.
A little "Easter egg" to watch for: after the first robot attack, there are several scenes of newspaper headlines relating stories of attacks in major cities across the globe. One of the "front pages" was for Tokyo... in the brief time it was on the screen, I swear it showed an outline of Godzilla, rather than a robot. ;)
My only critiques were the actors in the lead roles. Jude Law just gives me the creeps and Paltrow is way too skinny. To keep with the spirit of "pulp", they need an actress with more curves. ie Jolie. (IMHO)
I've taken the pics already with the digicam, but I have to wait until Glen uploads them at his house and e-mails them to me for hosting.
Hopefully, I'll have them up tomorrow.
Thank you, Scott! I will!
My neighborhood is pretty quiet at the moment.
I think everyone is taking the "better safe than sorry" approach to Jeanne. One southerly wobble and we're in the higher wind field.
I can't wait until tomorrow when this is all over finally!
What a beautiful place that White Pass is. *sigh*
Where's the pic that ecurbh was taking at that moment?
Funny thing is, he ~just~ took that roll of film in for developing and we haven't picked it up yet. We haven't seen any of the pics he took that week.
