The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I don't think it is classic identity theft, it was my bank card number that someone just got ahold of, not a new card issued in my name.

I guess what I wonder is if the company can tell me where the charges were made... where did the stuff get shipped to? Not here!

Count me in!

It's wonderful to hear from him again. You must have been thrilled to death to see an e-mail from him!

That is really strange. The bank is investigating?

No.... they're not going to investigate. They just credited it. It's such a small amount, it's not worth their time.

Yep! I hear ever now and then from his wife...just the occasional forwarded email or something.

I've got time to prepare, if the Hole wants to take on this effort again...

What the....? How on earth did that happen? :-/

I would go back and be sure that there weren't other charges.

Definitely find out where it was shipped to!

I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be a PO Box though. Unless the thief is incredibly stupid....

The company might not be the thief, but I'd consider that a possibility. I've passed the company's contact info on to a couple people I know to see what they come up with. I'll let you know if anything turns up.

HA! - I just called and talked to a nice guy who said he'd be happy to look up where the stuff was shipped to.... but not right now, if I could wait, cuz they've got a hurricane coming and they are trying to close down. I said that was more than fair and I would call back next week. ;~D

I'm at work, so I can't look it up in the archives, but I will when I get home if you want me to.

If they're any kind of company, they should be able to look up a charge and tell you what it was for and where it went. Might not hurt to give them a call and see.

If you find out where it went to, be sure and call and "verify" they got their "order"...act like you're the company.

Then if it turns out to be true theft, I'd throw the book at 'em.

Well, it already is a true theft.... They ordered it on my card and they are not me. That doesn't happen by accident.

It's not "three strikes and you're out", is it?

Yeah, I think it is. But I got zapped for getting in the mod's face. I won't do it a third time........probably. ;^)
