Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Pass them by! Pass them by!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

(Bowing with an operatic flourish, and no, that does
not make me gay!)
I thank you.

Speaking of space opera, have you ever read the Lensman series?

My beeber never went off.

I'm still waiting to see who is gonna fire the mercy shot.

Okay, so you can help me with what I need for my audition. I'm doing a simple folk-songish tune with some slightly twisted words.
But I want to start by saying:
"I should like to sing such and such an aria from such and such's opera ...."
"I should like to, but I can't."
It's corny, but it'll go over well.
I need a tenor aria. Preferably in Italian...
Thoughts?

My beeber has been off for at least an hour. Really, really need to sign off. Won't, for just another minute. Or five.

Actually, I don't recommend that, some of LEOs are noted for sense of humor. But in the NC vein, you could get a college or sports license plate with your favorite team on it. I see that done a lot.
hmm. Cubbies?

We all will, on Nov 2nd. The cumulative sigh of relief may break windows. :-)

Something really, really well known, preferably? Like maybe Nessun Dorma from Puccini's Turandot?

A whole aria? Or just a snippet to get the operatic impression across?

The snippet I'm thinking of would be about 30 seconds long.
