I read a recent interview with Clapton that gave the impression he had pretty much given up on Christianity. It's hard to guage the full picture from a few sentences spoken here and there though.
You mentioned Ozzy -- is he religious now?
I gotta run...
--FRegards
Ozzy's been religious for a while. Credits God and Sharon with getting him sober and keeping him alive (also notes that Sharon made it very clear if he didn't sober up the drugs weren't going to get a chance to kill him). He's been noddingly religious for a while (take it all the way back to "After Forever" on Black Sabbath's Masters of Reality) but got serious in the 80s, Dee's death really put the zap on his head.
CMIIW, but I think TOOL's guitarist is an artist and is responsible for a lot of their artwork...
What say you, undertow?
Slayer bump ---
Dave is quite musically talented and very hot, but there's not much in the way of complex political thought bouncing round his pretty little head.
As a result, he's no longer welcome in Ireland.
I know he's a Christian, but I didn't know it was anything new...consider the first lines of "Peace Sells..."
"Whaddaya mean I don't believe in God?
I talk to him every day."
I believe Dave Mustaine was raised as a Jehovah's Witness but converted to Roman Catholicism a few years ago during his battle with drugs and alcohol.
If anybody is interested in how Dave views himself and life in general listen to "The Craving" album by Dave's side project, MD.45, especially the song "Hell's Motel." When Dave was asked why the album was so violent and dark he replied that it goes to show what a "dangerous" person he is.
As far as his politics, he once made P.J. O Rourke's "Enemies List." So that should say pretty much everything.
Adam Jones does the artwork for TOOL's albums and is pretty much the brains behind the entire operation. He has said that he was influenced by Pink Floyd the most both in the artwork and music.
TOOL's artwork is a lot like the music - simple and delicate. You have to look underneath it all to know the meaning and it's meaning for you personally. When that happens, everything becomes clear.
TOOL Rules!
Ah, a new Megadave album! I'll have to miss this one too. He just can't sing.
Then again, I'm a HUGE Rush fan, and Geddy ain't exactly Pavarotti.
As far as Dave's political views, He is buds with Nugent. Ted would have shot him by now if he was a lib.
That line is total sarcasm.
That was written at a time when he was publicly screaming about Tipper Gore's 'control freak explicit lyrics labels'.
Yeah, bro. 'Don't Tread On Me' is the greatest pro military song written in the past 10 years.
PING!
I didn't know Megadeth was back together. I thought Mustaine had thrown in the towel and the others followed.
Anyway, yes, I am a conservative fan of heavy metal.
Hail Satan...
Sounds like a shot against capitalism.
You need to get Iced Earth - Glorius Burden. It is incredibly patriotic, sweeping, and hard hitting. Declaration Day is a great song!
Antoher great band is Hatebreed - get Perseverance. Great CD!!! Very uplifting.
Slayer - well they need no further details from me.
Metallica - Anything from Kill em All to Justice is great!
Maiden - Awesome!
Judas Priest - Get Living after Midnight - All the hits.
Ozzy - old Ozzy and Black Sabbath rocks - Very dark!
METALHEADS FOR BUSH!!!!
This was a nice thread from several years ago.

You guys see Some Kind of Monster yet?
Took my wife and my friends wife Nicole (who hates Metallica and anything approaching heavy). Nicole even loved it!
Don't Tread On Me
Liberty or death, what we so proudly hail
once you provoke her, rattling of her tail
never begins it, never, but once engaged...
never surrenders, showing the fangs of rage
don't tread on me
so be it
threaten no more
to secure peace is to prepare for war
so be it
settle the score
touch me again for the words that you'll hear evermore...
don't tread on me
love it or live it, she with the deadly bite
quick is the blue tongue, forked as lighting strike
shining with brightness, always on surveillance
the eyes, they never close, emblem of vigilance
don't tread on me
so be it
threaten no more
to secure peace is to prepare for war
so be it
settle the score
touch me again for the words that you'll hear evermore...

Plus the album cover...
Slayer even has a song "Dittohead"
