p>Word For The Day, Thursday, Sept. 2,2004
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
AVUNCULAR
1.(-vngky-lr) adj. Of or having to do with an uncle. Regarded as characteristic of an uncle, especially in benevolence or tolerance
duty.
*vun"cu*lar\, a. [L. avunculus uncle.] Of or pertaining to an uncle.
In these rare instances, the law of pedigree, whether direct or avuncular, gives way. --I. Taylor.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

I believe
Zell played an avuncular role for Malkin last night, going after FPL and telling him off in spades. But his speech, listing Kerry's record of denials for our defense was the meatier part of the night. FPL repeatedly pointed out sometimes people vote down bills for other reasons but a senator is only as strong as his record and Kerry's is 33 1/3 slower than it should be.

TAKE TWO (snap!)
When I read Gov. Schwartzenegger's speech yesterday, I was reminded of my mother's brother, an avuncular first-generation Hungarian-American who served in the Philippines during WW2, and how humble he was about it; like it was no big deal, just a job that needed doing.

i also tuned into the fatpantload when MR. O was so busy copulating with BONO on foxnews. i was totally disgusted. I was happy to see JC Watts on the FPL show, but boy, it was an eyeopener to listen to those reporters. it is a totally different experience to hear the way they look at things. Saying Dick has to RECAST HIS ROLE, as i said to xshub, recast his role for WHOM? not for pubs! they are happy as clams with his role and always have been.
Anyway, A+ for you and where might i find a transcript of Zell reaming Chrissy?

The media's avuncular cries are coming louder and louder in the form of defemation! When the substance of a debate is no longer being discussed, then it is clear they no longer stand on solid ground.
Mornin' all you Zell fans!
