Workin the phones tonight . . .
I had an interesting experience at the Minnesota State Fair last Friday-That gives me more hope for this election than I thought possible. It is fun to be in a competitive state-finally.
Obviuosly, this is anecdotal but I detected a Passion for W that you simply don't see covered.
I have been attending the State Fair for 20 plus years.
I saw far more political buttons than I have ever seen before-
Surprisingly Bush buttons seemed to outnumber Kerry buttons by at least 5-1 at the minimum-probably more like 7-1.
The Republican booth was FAR busier than I have ever seen it-this was on Friday-usually I go on the weekend when There are more people at the fair.
My wife and I bought out Bush Buttons and left the Republican building.
Within ten minutes, both my wife and I had been approached by one person each-wondering where to get the buttons.
Remember, there were a lot of other people weraing thse buttons.
Based on what I saw, I don't think Karen is blowing smoke.
He did have plenty of opportunity's to correct him but he just doesnt. Hannity seems as though he has a game plan of prepared questions and lacks the ability to improvise and change tack as the lies are being told. It's as though he is not listening to the things being said by the guest and is already thinking of how to ask the next question. The guests know this is his MO so they get away with the lies.
And will California be close? I have decided to pony up for some "Catholics against Kerry" stickers if there is a chance of the Golden State going GOP.
Yeah, they're doing a lot of ambiguous stuff this year, front groups that seem innocuous or even patriotic.
Someone said on another thread that there was a poll now showing Bush ahead in OREGON?? I know we have a couple with him up in OH, but OR???
I'm doing the bumper sticker/yard sign count here in southern OH. It's 2:1, Bush, and I'm pretty careful NOT to count cars double; not to count "United We Stand" or American flags or support our troops as Bush, even when I think they are. What makes this interesting is that it's pretty clear the Dems got their yard signs and bumper stickers OUT already . . . but the county GOP isn't having its sign making party until NFL season start-day! I think this is a really bad sign for Francois.
I hope she tells him to "shove it."
From CNN.COM, 11/10/2000 (Bush was ahead by 17 votes):
In New Mexico, 257 votes that had been reported missing were found late Friday afternoon in a warehouse that contained all of Bernalillo County's ballots, said County Attorney Tito Chavez. Bernalillo County includes Albuquerque and is the state's most populous county.
New Mexico's Elections Director Denise Lamb chalked up the temporarily missing ballots to "simple incompetence, not conspiracy." She said she still does not know who won the state.
"We don't know what the true spread is," she said.
Another 355 ballots remain to be counted by hand, a spokesman for the secretary of state said. The 257 found Friday afternoon have now been counted.
Just kidding!
It COULD happen...
While the Bend news (Central OR) speaks of Californication... (please excuse the term), when you talk to folks on the street, the liberalization is not welcome..It seems that is comes from ONE special interest group.. (guess which one??) Being the #2 state to retire, there will NOT be, IMO, a great desire to raise taxes... therefore, it would appear, based on the numbers, that a shift towards the left is not necessarily imminent.. They do seem to have a handful of politicians that need to have the snot slapped out of them about who is in charge.. but what state doesn't?
You are probably right about Northern Maine and New Hampshire.
