I know from experience that after one of these major storms, lots of insurers will pull out of the state or cancel policies for trumped up reasons. When you try to get a new policy, it will cost twice as much.

I know from experience that after one of these major storms, lots of insurers will pull out of the state or cancel policies for trumped up reasons. Something like 70% of the residential properties in Florida are already insured by a State Joint Underwriting Association.
