Posting pictures and graphics question

Posted on 08/27/2004 10:13:41 AM PDT by Jenya

I post plenty of pics and cartoons without a problem when I take them directly off the web.

Is there a way I can post pics and and graphics that I already have downloaded on my hard drive?

Any help would be appreciated.

You need to upload them to a webserver. Here's a free photo hosting service:

I got a tip from a fellow FReeper about Photobucket.com. It's easy and free (but if you give them a contribution, they "unlimit" your storage).

Go to photobucket.com, It is free and you can store MANY pics there. Once you upload them post away. It takes me about 15 seconds to login to my account, upload, then post the pic here. Very very nice. Don't be afraid to donate $5 to help out the owner if you like the service.

I don't have a personal website. Do you know where I can find a picture-hosting service? I've never heard of one. Thanks.

Jenya most ISPs give you a web homepage in addition to an internet connection, but you might need to email them to activate it. Then it's just a matter of uploading the pics to your page (I use an FTP client).

If you get that far and need more help let me know.

Thanks, I have AOL, which I don't even need since I have Comcast high-speed whatever. So, maybe I can find something there.

Is it obvious that I'm computer illiterate, lol.

Thanks to everyone for their help. I'm on the right path.

OK I just went to the comcast page and it says:

Features:
Personal Web Pages: Create and maintain cyberspaces — even if you're not a Web wizard. Use our helpful tools to toot your own horn, herald your hobbies, share your photo albums.

So yeah, you can drop the AOL and save $20 a month. Go here to set up your comcast page: http://www.comcast.net/memberservices/pwp/

Hope that helps!

Oh yeah, you don't actually need to create a web page to store the pics, just set one up. Then you can just upload any file you want to the page, and it'll be available for web access.

Thanks so much. A-O-Hell is nothing but a liberal POS anyway. Their Welcome Page is usually anti Bush and pro Kerry.
