I am running XP. I click on "control panel" then select the link for Windows update.
The next screen tells me that I am set up for automatic updates. The problem is, I don't remember how I did so, and cannot find a link to a dialog that lets me change this setting. Neither the "settings" link nor the "administrator options" link allows me to change this setting.
Also, how would I set up automatic updates in Windows 2000?
Thanks.
Control panel>automatic updates
Thanks, I saw it, in both XP and 2000. Why they didn't integrate it with the "updates" screen is beyond me.
Thanks.
Before you make this change, be sure you are ready to install SP2.
Just trying to help.............: )
See this link: http://news.zdnet.co.uk/software/windows/0,39020396,39163649,00.htm
SP2 has been having compatability problems with many programs. You may want to wait until those issues are resolved.
Thanks everyone.
Funny thing...I checked my own system, and find that I still am at SP1. But I already have my system set for automatic download AND installation.
Why wouldn't I already have installed SP2 by now (not that I'm complaining).
In the meantime, I have changed my settings so that I automatically download, but don't automatically install.
Thanks.
Please ignore the last post. I should have read that other thread, and the Microsoft page more closely. It's not generally available yet, right? But the website doesn't say when that date will be.
