I've done searches and came up empty on where the highjackers did their flight training.

Someone told me they all attended flight training schools in Florida, but I don't think that's true.

Appreciate any FReepers who have more info!

Pretty sure that isn't true. I believe they attended several different flight schools scattered across the country.

Flight School Owner Has Shady Ties

Three of the airliners involved in the September 11th terrorist attack—two in Manhattan, and one wrested to the ground over Pennsylvania—were piloted by terrorists who had trained at two flight schools at the Venice, Florida airport.

According to German prosecutors, after Atta moved from Germany to train with Dekkers' flight school in Venice (Huffman Aviation Inc), at least four other members of the same terrorist cell moved there to train as pilots as well.

Testimony Huffman Aviation by CEO President Rudi Dekkers

On July 1st, 2000, Mohamed Atta and Marwan Alshehhi arrived at Huffman Aviation in Venice, Florida to inquire about taking flying lessons. After a description was given about our flying school, they said they would let us know what they would decide about the flying lessons.

On July 3rd, 2000, Atta and Alshehhi came back to Huffman Aviation to sign up for lessons. Atta already held a Private Pilot License but wanted to advance and get his Commercial License and Alshehhi was there to obtain both a Private and Commercial License. They had stated they were unhappy with a flying school they attended up North.

THE STORY OF ZIAD SAMIR JARRAH

By November, 2000, Jarrah had enrolled at the Florida Flight Training Centre in Venice. Thorsten Beirman, who flew with Jarrah, recalls:

"He was not at all an aggressive person but when flying he seemed to change and he would brook no other opinions. I didn't feel safe and I decided that I would never fly with him again".

Jarrah returned to Lebanon for the last time to be with his father during open heart surgery in February 2001. He re-entered the U.S. April 13 and rented an apartment at 1816 Harding in Hollywood, Florida on April 23. On June 22, he moved to an apartment at 4641 Bouganvilla in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea where his roommate was Ahmed Al-haznawi, another of the suspected hijackers.

NYT:Flight School Warned F.B.I. of Suspicions

Mr. Oberstar said the instructor's warnings could not have been more blunt. The representative said, "He told them, `Do you realize that a 747 loaded with fuel can be used as a bomb?' "

Mr. Oberstar described the instructor as "an American hero" whose actions resulted in Mr. Moussaoui's arrest and might have prevented another suicide hijacking.

Congressional officials said the account by the school, the Pan Am International Flight Academy in Eagan, outside Minneapolis, raised new questions about why the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other agencies did not prevent the hijackings.

Officials said the Arizona branch of the school alerted the Federal Aviation Administration earlier this year after finding that a student spoke little English. The Saudi student, Hani Hanjour, has been described as being at the controls of the plane that crashed into the Pentagon.

Thank you all for your help! It looks like the only one who didn't train in Florida was the Arizona student who crashed the Pentagon.
