Could it be pollution, or intermixing of international blood stocks?
Pollution has DROPPED significantly in the last 30 years, especially auto pollution. What a load of hooey.
Perhaps they meant the pollution of the education system by radicals and liberals?
That could be what they meant... ;-)
"Pollution has DROPPED significantly in the last 30 years, especially auto pollution. What a load of hooey"
ABSOLUTELY!!!!
This is Junk Science. I wonde if they took in to account better and earlier detection of these diseases>
This is very similar to the rants about the rise in asthma rates in the inner city.
It's absolutely clear that the rise in inner city asthma is due to an increase in cockroach doo-doo. People with allergies tend to react very badly to cockroach droppings, and so if you have more cockroaches, you have more asthma. The solution would be more use of insecticides.
Instead we get this left-wing spin about how this is proof that our air is more polluted, even though the air is continuing to get cleaner. Funny how asthma's not increasing in the suburbs even when those suburbs are downwind from pollution sources. That's because air pollution isn't the problem.
Something doesn't smell right here. They start out by talking raw numbers, then switch to death rates.
One factor not discussed (and it's no surprise considering it's The Guardian) is that western nations are importing a lot of disease. One could argue that the rising rates of tuberculosis in the US is due to the environment, but the real answer is that we're importing it from 3rd world countries like the one just to the south of us. But we can't talk about that, so let's just use the catch-all excuse--it's the "pollution".
I bet you can find a correlation between the numbers of parents who smoke around young children and the rate of athsma among children.
With more and more parents aware of the negative affects of smoking on children, there are fewer parents who smoke around their kids. So athsma drops.
Maybe there is no true link, but there would be a highly probably link between the correlation and the reality.
There is a link there, it's probably not as strong as some think, but it exists. Asthma is a disease of inflammation in reaction to allergens. So the issue is the level of allergens. The air pollution argument is silly, both because of the drop in outdoor air pollution *and* the increase in the availability of air conditioning, which filters out a lot of allergens.
A solution suggests itself! lol
Global warming must be involved. Too many people exhaling too much carbon dioxide.
That was my thought. Pollution is dropping so if these deseases are going up there must be other causes.
Knock off the personal attacks or your stay here will be short.
bttt
It's all Bush's fault.
If people are in general living longer, there is more time for dementias to develop...
