I would be more concerned about the contents of the cans, rather than the pictures. For example, I'd increase the alcohol content in commemorative edition (not too much, but, say, to Belgian standards). And everyone would drink happily ever after...
Willie Nelson? A real Rocker there.
How can they possibly leave out black musicians? I'm not surprised. The music industry was infamous for sticking it to black musicians.
In other words: "Don't take it seriously. It's just about cashing in on the idiots out there."
Generate a buzz *LOL*
Don't these people have anything better to do than whine.
It must be a terrible thing being a leftist when it's time to get up in the morning.
Nothing but darkness the rest fo the day.
I haven't had a beer in probably a year, but time to go out and support Miller.
And why on Earth does Syracuse (or any other) University has a professorship in "pop culture"? Singers (if the word is applicable here) are trained in musical schools and specialized depertments.
Including Joe Walsh (of whom I am a fan) or Willie Nelson in place of say . . CHUCK BERRY is inexplicable, IMO.
I thought Willie Nelson was country *lol*
By the time Chuck was on the cover of the Rolling Stone, it was for "My Ding a Ling." Not something that most of us want to think about.
Jimi.
Aretha.
RE RE!
BTW if anyone has not yet been to the Rock Hall of Fame in Cleveland . . .by all means go!
There is a large display there on Hendrix, including many of his guitars, gold records and a small theater looping a short film about him.
Oh, thought of one of the best: B.B. King!
No Jimi Hendrix or Chuck Berry?? Or Robert Johnson? And Bon Jovi and Willie Nelson(who isn't rock) instead?
A 'reverse political correctness' so to speak. . .and just perhaps.
A lot of greats were left off.
It is equally inexplicable to use Joe Walsh and Willie Nelson while neglecting Jimmy Paige and Jim Morrison!
Willie Nelson being the bigger mystery here, for sure.
Seems their first mistake; was their biggest mistake. . .ie using only Rolling Stone Covers for exclusive resource. . .
As for favorites; did VAN Morrison never make a cover of Rolling Stone? Surely he did. . .of course, they did say; they had to have approval; so could explain a few absentees. . .
Perhaps they will consider another Anniversay series. . ." If they are smart; this should be just the beginning.
. . .anyway, they could start the next series with 'Fats Domino'. . .and keep it rolling. . .
Black rocker Lenny Kravitz is half Jewish.
