Calling All Book Stores!

Posted on 08/11/2004 1:50:24 PM PDT by Republic Rocker

OK everyone gotta try doing this! Get out your phone books and put the fear into your local Booksellers!

I live in Los Angeles and every darn bookstore has a shrine of Bush Bashing books at every table especially when you walk in and by the cas registrar. It is simply frightening!

I bought tommy Franks book last week and it was upstairs at my Barnes and Noble! You want bias book selling...RIGHT HERE IN LOST ANGELES!

Anyway I have a book joint here in West Hollywood called BOOKSOUP. Very popular yet kinda Gay, Nerd, Hippie, Granola, Artsy Fartsy..... AND A LIVING MONUMENT TO JOHN KERRY!

So today I called them and the girl who answered the phone was taken aback when I asked when the book Unfit by John O'neil was due in....She stuttered!

I had such a laugh I called three more book stores in Santa Monica.... All this Libby Bookworms searching and searching for arrival dates....You can feel the angst!

SO GET OUT YOUR YELLOW PAGES ! CALL ALL YOUR LOCAL STORES AND KEEP THEM BUSY FOCUSING ON "UNFIT FOR COMMAND!

I intend to buy this book. I will be handing it to all Viet Nam vets to read. I gave the hillary book to my in-laws and they swore they wouldn't vote for her. She won here in NY without our votes. I am so glad the proceeds will go to a worthy cause.

I just placed my order for 2 new books on Amazon. If the other choose to do their own liberal agenda I will just shop online to purchase mine.

One day these LIBS will learn who half of their income comes from.

When Hitlary's book came out,and I would see it on a visit to book stores (which I do often, I'm an avid reader), I'd pick up a copy as if interested, then make sure I laid it down somewhere else in the store FACE DOWN or on a bottom shelf or something.

I shall do the opposite with UNFIT FOR COMMAND.

This week-end, think I'll get a latte at Barnes & Noble, sit near the window with the front page showng and read UNFIT FOR COMMAND.

BTW I'll call ahead!

Do It! I plan on sitting at the Starbucks across the street with the cover facing the passerbys!

My local Barnes and Nobles n Baltimore had all the Bush bashing books, but they also had Hannity, Savage and many other anti-Democratic tomes. I think they realize they are in the business of selling books and should not make political statements.

They did not have Buckley's new book yet, but that was a sloppy distribution problem.

It's the same here in northwest Arkansas, and this is a mostly conservative area! It infuriates me! Two of the bookstores I've been in, you have to literally step AROUND the displays of the Clinton books and the Bush bashing books to get in the d**n door. Made me mad enough to walk out, in one case without ever walking all the way in. Oh, and did I mention the display window in one of them? Nauseating. I guess these people believe that left-wing America-haters ARE the mainstream.

Are y'all finding the same thing?

I LIKE that idea. Maybe I will do that as well.

Anybody want to join me in Fayetteville, say....Tuesday evening, for a little liberal cage-rattling?

If I lived anywhere near Fayetteville, I'd join you!

BUT, tell me what you have planned, I'll see what I can do here in Midland.

I'm going to Barnes and Noble this week-end, have 5 of my friends who will meet me there, we'll all be reading UNFIT FOR COMMAND, talking about it, asking the clerk questions about ordering more, asking other customers if they've seen this great book. . .oh, and turning around the faces of democrat sleaze publications.

Dont worry, we are all discreet!

Oh, I was just thinking of going to a Barnes and Nobles, or some equally biased bookstore in Fayetteville or the area and purchasing the book (calling ahead to all the bookstores, of course, to make sure that they have it), and then perhaps arranging an impromptu "meeting" of FReepers and other conservatives at the coffee shop of one of these places....preferably in the college district. We all purchase the book and promptly sit around and have coffee and have an animated discussion.

Sounds like fun, except that I *hate* going to Fayetteville. The only place I ever go is occasionally to the Dickson Street used book store.

Is there a big bookstore in Springdale?

There is a Hasting's on 412 in Springdale. And there's a B&N in Rogers.

How's the Hastings there? That's one of the stores here that practically has Clinton books barricading the d**n door.
