'5 Year Mission' is a collosal 'fan wank' that is laughably bad. I remember getting word of it a year or more ago and the whole idea has looked 1/2 baked since its inception.
Just leave TOS alone - it's the only Trek worth watching, and even by that standard, Season 1 & 2 are strong and Season 3 is weak. That being said, I'd rather watch a poor Season 3 episode than most of the stuff done in recent years in the Trek family.
