ISTANBUL, Turkey Simultaneous explosions hit two small Istanbul (search) hotels in an apparent terrorist attack, killing at least one person and injuring eight others early Tuesday, police said.
Security concerns in Turkey have been heightened since last November, when four homicide truck bombings blamed on Al Qaeda (search) killed more than 60 people in Istanbul.

ISTANBUL, Turkey Explosions rocked two small tourist hotels in Istanbul (search) early Tuesday in an apparent terrorist attack, killing at least one person and injuring seven others, police said.
Two explosions hit the inexpensive hotels, which often host tourists from former Soviet republics (search), at around 2 a.m., police said.
One of the targeted hotels, Pars, said it received an anonymous call only 10 minutes before the explosion saying there was a bomb in a room.
"It appears to be a terrorist attack," Police Chief Celalettin Cerrah told the Anatolia news agency.
