Oh, Sandy..She reminds me so much of Purty...so beautiful..When I took Purty home with me she slept right by my face,too..later she moved beside me...or close to my feet...I still miss my 15 year old cat that died years ago!I thank God for the joy of a pet..but the loss is great when they go.
That is one cute student!
We have a stray kitten at our office that we are feeding right now. We don't know if it is male or female, where it came from or anything. We call it 'Kittendude' for now. He/she has been hanging around now for about a month. Very cute. I can get about 3 feet from it right now. I already have a home for it when we can catch it. 4 cats is enough for us.
I'd do all I could, while kitty is a baby, to keep the kitten out from underfoot of your mom's canes. To allow the kitten to be near you during the growing up time, when you don't have it sequestered safely with you behind a closed door, You might try a tall, inexpensive baby playpen that doesn't have mesh and one in which the slats can't be squeezed through. When the cat is a bit older, maybe six months?, it would have a lot more experience about protecting itself from an Oncoming Human. I don't know if that's practical for you, but it's what I would do.
Your pics at 19 and 1 are priceless!
Phoebe (#21) also likes to sleep on her back, I just haven't gotten a good picture of her yet. Now that I've figured out how to post pics, some will be forthcoming!
Puhleeezze!!! Don't wake us up until Labor Day....
Petroni, you forgot to ping me! And I love the Kitty Thread so much! Please don't forget me next time.
I love her so dearly.
And here I thought I was the only one with a cat named 'Houston'.
We call him 'Huey' for short though.
We really annoyed the first pregnant cat we had by repeatedly poking her in the belly and trying to determine how many there were. We counted three. She had four.
I have had several strays move in. One of them wasn't just a stray, she was feral. I used her kittens to coax her into the house--a dog had killed one baby and injured another--and kept her indoors until after having her spayed. It was a challenge taking her to the vet! She used to go outside a lot, but since my recent move across the country into a new house, she has not asked to go outside at all. She still has a lot of the feral behavior, though she lets me pet her now.
