Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Hill and water under sky
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

he thinks that some plywood between the trees is all he needs to hold the bank back? A freshly dumped bunch of soft dirt? Not to even get started on how freaking ugly the plywood is. Sounds like he's been reading the same book as my neighbor Doughboy: "DIY for Idiots... by Idiots"

Good morning and safe traveling!

I looked and unfortunately I don't have a picture of that part of the property. It's a steep bank, probably a 70 degree grade up 20 feet. These trees are small firs 8 inches in diameter that are all in a row halfway up it.

You mentioned a virus at work today. Somebody on the Dose mentioned that her computer had been attacked by the Gaobot virus. Might be something to check tomorrow at work. Must be a new one, I've never heard of it.It's been around for quite a while...BUT this COULD be a new variant...so maybe! I haven't heard of any new infected systems today. Keepin' my fingers crossed...

Ya know...I LIKE that movie, I really do (though I like the Broadway soundtrack better...), but I didn't need that song stuck in my head today.
Especially since I'm worrying about heating bills and such. *sigh*

Good morning!
Lil, did you post a picture of your outfit?? What does it look like??
Oh, I hope I caught her before she left, I'm dying to hear about this new outfit!
Goodness Hair, you are up early early this a.m.!
Yep, I am bonafide sick, Rosie. I think I got it off your music CD! LOL Just kidding, but wouldn't that be a hoot? I actually got it from Matthew, who had it over the weekend and he never came in contact with your music CD.

Good morning!
~sip~
I am up early. Had to let the horses out. They were inside last night 'cuz it's rainin. And now I am awake :~D
Sorry you're sick.... I was just thinking it's been a really long time since I've been sick.
To: HairOfTheDog
So far I'm not horrible sick...
Speaking of animal husbandry, I gotta put the night light out with the chickens today. It's starting to get dark so early now and egg production has indeed slacked off. Plus, the young ladies should start laying any time now, Rosabelle has begun that squatting business.

Goooood morning!
Good luck with your tripnallthat, lil!
Hopefully today is less of a disaster than yesterday. It's looking up somewhat already. It's a glorious near-autumn day out there (currently 49, but supposed to be 70 later) - bright and clear with just a little wispy fog still clinging to the low areas. And I had one of the people who I hadn't gotten to yesterday call back (supposedly her computer was DOA) to let me know it's just fine today. Whew!
Having steel-cut oatmeal this morning, with peanut butter to give it staying power and a little cinnamon and sugar. Mmm...tasty.

I don't think I've seen pics of the new chickens all grown up.... Portraits please!

I wasn't sick when I mailed the CD! I claim innocence! ;-)
Zinc, lemon tea, rest.

I'll get some! Rosabelle is a wheaten, rather nondescript girl, while Isabelle is a stunning blue and wheaten with a blue beard!

Well, right now I'm enjoying a vanilla coffee. I didn't hear Steve bring it in the room this morning, but woke to the smell of it. Was actually dreaming I had a cup! LOL

Mornin' folks.
It is ~official~ there will be no football in the Stormhands' household this fall. Jr. is prolly still asleep but the wife talked to the guidance counselor this morning.
He said that the school just copied that page from the rule book and he admitted it was poorly worded. But he said the official rule is that for fall sports it's five credits for the preceeding year.
So, now we start the damage control. It's a hard lesson, but maybe this is his wake up call.
To: Corin Stormhands
Poor kid. I really feel for him.
I was much the same way as him, knowing what I loved but didn't see the consequences of my actions affecting it...didn't make me bad or lazy or stupid...it was just my personality, in hind sight...at the time I believed I was bad, stupid and lazy.
I really feel for him.

Did I ever tell you that my senior year, I had a term paper due? If I didn't finish it, I would FAIL my senior year?
I went faithfully to the library, did the research (the paper was over Elizabeth I and how her childhood influenced her reign.) I never wrote the paper.
The day before it was due, my teacher saw my mom on campus and told her. My mom met me at the auditorium (I had drama practice) with a STACK of books and we went home and I wrote the paper. Took me all night. Made a B on it.
I just had a disconnect between doing the paper and the consequences of not doing it.
