The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Made that curry last night. It was wonderful! I think it turned out a little too spicy for Stephen, though. He said "This reminds me of music that's just a little too loud, like you almost can't hear it as well because it's overpowering..."

Heh...guess I gotta tone it down slightly in future, at least when I have company. I think it was just about right, though any hotter would have been too much. And I used LOTS of vegetables and some chicken, so it made enough that even after Stephen had several big servings (must not have been THAT bad) and I had some, there was still enough for a generous lunch today. Plus I have half a can of coconut milk left to make some again later!

Today, I'm testing your theory that sriracha (?) sauce makes everything better. I got some yesterday when I got the curry paste. I'm actually getting burned out on green Tabasco, so I figure I'll switch my heat source for awhile...

It's vey good on omelet type things. So far I've determined that...

Good morning! Those threads look fun...

A little more coffee and I'll be heading over to my cousin's to download my car and split up / clean up our damp camping gear. Ugh.

Heh...the daisy in that pic is an especially nice touch... I STILL have junk in some parts of my car from the camping trip to Maine over a month ago. Junk meaning ponchos, canned sardines, water bottles...I make a lousy housekeeper / carkeeper, I'm afraid.

On the other hand, if I'm every stranded, I could probably survive a coupla days using the things stuffed under the back seats...

I'd say do it. I have worked campaigns both as a volunteer and as paid staff. If you've got the time and can do it together, go for it. Just make sure it doesn't conflict with the current jobs you do have.

For the last 20 years, I've not had any job that was not a result of political contacts. I'd be doing more of that myself except for potential ~conflicts~ and the fact that I've got a whole tribe of people in my house vying for my attention.

No pun intended, but this could open a lot of doors for you...

What knockers....sank you doctor....

Local country station has been giving away tickets for the Kenny Chesney concert in Virginia Beach tomorrow night. Then Dylan and Nelson are here on Sunday.

Both venues are "iffy" at this point.

I've made that law repeatedly.

But I'm a repeat offender.

Main trouble is that I don't get in the back seat myself, and other people leave stuff, and I don't get around to straightening back there as often as I should.

Just make sure it doesn't conflict with the current jobs you do have.

He'd quit the call center job.... but if he keeps getting web work it would leave him more time to do that work than he has now, which pays a lot better than both! I'd also quit my morning temp job for it, but it would end up paying about the same as that, and I think I would also be better able to do my home job because I could spend mornings on it, which are my best time. The door knocking would be 4-8 through November.... and ~some~ weekends. At least one weekend day.

It would be good for us to do all that walking huh!

Winmag, we received the new knife yesterday.... Thank you very much!

SSSHhhhhhh.....be vewwy vewwy quiet...

Well, I'm off...sort of. I wonder if there are any clean clothes left in the house...if I have to wear the stuff I wore yesterday, I will be...inconvenienced.

I'm thinking of making a car window sign that says "MY BEEBER IS SERIESLY STUNED" and see how many Freepers notice and recognize it.

If you wear yesterday's clothes, people will think you didn't go home last night.

How does he fan-mount a deer? ;~D

That's neat. I haven't seen that before. My friend Bob has a full mounted pheasant in flight... Up high on a wall. Drove Logan nuts when he was there.
