The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Hey, are you gone?

Bear's freepmail says he's gone to bed too. How about Lone Star Cafe on Thursday night?

Morning!

I'm swamped again, so I'll be somewhat scarce.

I've learned a lesson, though. Never, ever say to a customer, "I don't think that feature will make any difference at all, but if you'd like I can run some numbers for you so you can see for yourself....."

I love your geek reports!

Yeah, the helmet liners sound like they'd probably not work well there since they don't necessarily have a supply of cold water. They were worth checking, though!

2. Find Samurai 7

I saw Samurai 7 on the ANBU website and it looked pretty interesting. The AnimeSuki website has some interesting things to try why we wait. I downloaded an anime version of Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot.

5. Go into double-withdrawal because now there are two series to love and Samurai 7 shows only two eps a month...

I guess I could start downloading the Macross stuff. ;^)

Service Pack 2 for Windows XP will replace the old Internet Connection Firewall with a new firewall that will be enabled automatically after installation and every time thereafter when you switch on your desktop PC.

I can just imagine the nightmare we're gonna go through with this when the students start returning and having trouble with anything and everything because of the firewall settings. But...we're still being told to put it on all the lab PCs and such. I can see it being a benefit, but I just KNOW things are gonna go wrong first...

Wait 'till Mamma and Daddy call you from a thousand miles away because their darling child can't get their new computer onto the school's network. Mamma's crying, Daddy's cussing (or vice versa), and the kid, who couldn't care less, is nowhere to be found.

*sigh* They call here, too. And you've stated it exactly.

And frequently, they get VEY ticked off when we don't tell 'em we'll immediately run to Johnny's room and hold his hand while he plugs everything in.

Yikes! Am I reading this right that the second storm is going to be much worse?

Looks like Bonnie's gonna come dump rain all the way up here, too.

Yeah, it looks like Bonnie will hit land before she becomes a hurricane strength over the Caribbean.

This is NOT a good sign this early in the season...we've got almost four more months...
