Kerry Had Affair While Still Married-Character Issue Threatens Presidential Candidacy (full text)
National Enquirer ^ | August 10, 2004 | Alan Butterfield

Sources tell the National Enquirer that in 1980--two years before Kerry and first wife Julia Thorne announced their separation--John Kerry began an affair that lasted past the marriage breakup. Kerry and Ms. Thorne divorced in 1988.

The woman in question was dating a prominent Boston dermatologist in 1980, but that relationship ended when she started seeing John Kerry romantically.

An insider close to the woman tells the Enquirer, 'There is a reason John Kerry has fought tooth and nail to keep the records of his 1988 divorce sealed. If those divorce records were ever released, I think the public would get tremendous insight into his character--and that is the last thing he wants to see happen.'

The friend of the woman confided, 'Kerry and his lover both had to work long hours and late nights. It was the perfect cover for any cheating husband.' The woman was not married at the time.

When John announced in 1982 that he and Julia were separating, his lover thought that she would become the next Mrs. John Kerry. As a single US Senator, separated from his wife, Kerry dated up a storm and his lover hit the roof!

Kerry's lover dreaded reading the Boston papers every morning and finding out John was on the town with other women. The relationship ended when she could no longer handle the allegations of Kerry's cheating with several women, most notably actress Morgan Fairchild.

Internet reporter Matt Drudge said on June 27 that 'the race is on in political and media circles to guage the import of Kerry's sealed July 25, 1988 divorce from his wife, JuliA Stimson Throne.

The Kerry camapgin called any divorce digging a game of political gutter ball. 'This is a trash hunt..,' says a senior Kerry source, 'I would argue adamantly that the records should remain sealed.'

The former Kerry lover's confidant added, 'John Kerry will do anything in his power to keep his divorce records out of the public eye. If they were to be released before the election, it could cost him the presidency.

Enquirer reports it, then the MSM has a green light to "report what the Enquirer reports". This way the MSM gets to act like they had no part in breaking the story. They can just come in and confirm this stuff.

No surprise Kerry would do this kind of thing. Dems will torpedo and screw Kerry and blame Bush for a hatchet job. Then here comes HRC to the rescue.

Jack Ryan had his records unsealed by a judge on the grounds that the he was a public figure and the public had the right to know. The info the Chicago Tribune gound after it was unsealed destroyed Ryan's political career. Kerry's cannot be touched. Media tactics applies to GOP candidates only??? Keep this up and the US will see civil war within my grandchildrens' generation.

Civil divorce, Catholic annulment. Not even a U.S. Senator can get civil authorities to pretend a 12-year marriage with children wasn't consummated.

Here's that earlier Drudge, regarding different allegations:
Campaign Drama Rocks Democrats:
Kerry Fights Off Media Probe
Of Recent Alleged Infidelity,
Rivals Predict Ruin

**World Exclusive**

**Must Credit the DRUDGE REPORT**

A frantic behind-the-scenes drama is unfolding around Sen. John Kerry and his quest to lockup the Democratic nomination for president, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.

Intrigue surrounds a woman who recently fled the country, reportedly at the prodding of Kerry, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

A serious investigation of the woman and the nature of her relationship with Sen. John Kerry has been underway at TIME magazine, ABC NEWS, the WASHINGTON POST, THE HILL and the ASSOCIATED PRESS, where the woman in question once worked.

A close friend of the woman first approached a reporter late last year claiming fantastic stories -- stories that now threaten to turn the race for the presidency on its head!

In an off-the-record conversation with a dozen reporters earlier this week, General Wesley Clark plainly stated: "Kerry will implode over an intern issue." [Three reporters in attendance confirm Clark made the startling comments.]

The Kerry commotion is why Howard Dean has turned increasingly aggressive against Kerry in recent days, and is the key reason why Dean reversed his decision not to drop out of the race after Wisconsin, top campaign sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

Reports are moved when circumstances warrant
