I can understand what you're saying. I have always enjoyed hiking alone too, but I don't think I'd feel safe doing it there. I really wish we'd lock down the borders, but there is just no political will on the part of legislators in any capacity to do it. It is maddening. They breach the borders in droves, and we look away and pretend the problem doesn't exist. Or let's reward them for breaking the law by making them legal. Oh yeah, that'll really stem the tide.
Soooooooooo aggravating. The desert is trashed. My husband and I just worked on the Randy Graf campaign to try to do something. Randy didn't win the primary against Kolbe, but he said he'll run again in 2006. Meanwhile, we have to try to get Prop 200 passed in AZ, but of course the bigwhigs are coming out of the woodwork to try to defeat it.
