What is it with guys who like to blow stuff up?
The standard response is: "it's a guy thing, you wouldn't understand."
That's really all there is to it.
I was one of those guys. Sign of normal male development IMHO.
There's no greater thrill at a young age than killing your first duck with a BB gun or throwing rocks at passing cars knowing full well that if Dad found out he'd kick your bloody arse.
I think the male fascination with high explosives is related to pyromania. Boys just naturally love to play with fire. The boys who love it the most grow up to become fire fighters, pyrotechnicians, demolition techs, combat engineers, tankers and artillerymen. The opportunity to blow things up, burn things down, shoot the hell out of things and not go to jail for it is a powerful recruiting aid.
