Homosexuals got old after awhile so they put in one homosexual who's boyfriend was in the military (and they fogged his face in bedroom photos, part of "Don't ask, don't tell").
Later they went to adding a psycho to the mix as well as the homosexual. An alcoholic almost drank herself to death before the end of the first episode that season; another woman was mentally sick (lyhme disease?) and took it out constantly on her roommates.
There also seems to be casting geared to getting some sex on camera (between 2 or more of the roommates at the same time).
Yeah, but there is a difference between having a token homosexual (still part of mainstreaming) and having an openly gay character, 4 guys doing all sorts of gay stuff, and 2 others doing some of the gay stuff. There is only one guy there who is clearly not gay, bisexual or has gay tendencies.
He is (in the openly gay guys words) an 'ultra-conservative', in his own words a 'Rush Republican' and is most likely the first one kicked out of the game.
I think the producers wanting sex on camera is one of the motivations, but apparently the women weren't giving up the goods enough so they are going for 4 gay guys in the hot tub.
Actually, CBS can't control the show. The show's nominees were named by Dutch entertainment giant Endemol (Fear Factor), which produces and organises the show. Endemol is the company which runs the show, as they hold all worldwide rights for the show and control the show themselves.
