Historical fiction isn't something I read much...I still haven't recovered from my dislike of history as a school subject. I should get past that...
This isn't really fiction...but I know my siblings thought the memoirs of Joseph Plum Martin were fascinating. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, and wrote about it afterwards. It's probably not completely accurate since it was so many years later...so maybe it qualifies? I haven't read it, but it's called Private Yankee Doodle.
