More polish troops has departed to Iraq

Poland a staunch ally of United States has sent it more troops to Iraq. More then 100 soldiers from Szczecin, Opole and Tomaszow Mazowiecki has departed from military air port which is located in Wroclaw, to participate in III contingency. General Andrzej Ekiert has also left Poland for mission to Iraq.

Soldiers from 25 brigades, special anti mines unit from Szczecin and 10 brigades of logistic support z Opola will help the III contingent to help other coalition forces and other changes deem necessary according to military conduct and with cooperation of new Iraq government and United States military generals. General has said there will more flights of this kind, nevertheless operations like this are still deem under secrecy.

In his words to his soldiers General made a following statement “Remember, you will be not far from your families as long as is need it. Your mission must be done with honor and duty”

In another note General Andrzej Ekiert has explained to his soldiers what it means to be a soldier and soldier responsibility and not to abuse that for it is a gift. In his talk before departing to Iraq with his soldiers, General made clear to reporters that there is still more work to be done and he except his soldiers to finish their duty and perform their job well.

“We are going there not only to help new Iraq government but also to help prepare Iraq’s for new democratic election, our soldier are well trained and prepare for any critical situations that may arise.” He did admitted that situation in Iraq is dangerous, but he has pointed out that mostly is in separated area of Iraq and it will be dealt with it not only by coalition forces but also by United States military.

In another note Szmajdzinski media secretary for coalition forces, has made it clear that Poland will keep their troops as long as is need it and as long as is ask by new Iraq’s government and USA.

Not long ago 1 July 2004, more then 250 soldiers from II contingent have departed to Iraq for preparation mission for III contingent. There will be total 2,500 soldiers in Iraq, it is not know when soldiers of II contingent will come back to Poland.
