Less Than 4 Months Until Election Day...Where Do We Stand?

Posted on 07/11/2004 7:03:37 AM PDT by American100

Hi All:

We're under 4 months until the general election and I'm wondering what the general sentiment is out there. Latest NBC Poll has Kerry up 2 points - although the latest AP has Bush up 4.

I did see that more people think Edwards is more qualified to be president vs. Cheney, 47% to 38% (Ugh!!)

What are you thoughts freepers?

If this election year were a football season, we are still playing exhibition games right now. The real games have yet to begin. When most Americans start really paying attention the Kerry, instead of seeing him as just "he's not Bush," he will turn them off in droves, and President Bush will be fine in November.

And where did you see that? On 2nd thought does it even matter if you can't get elected?

I think a lot of it depends on how much Kerry says.

When he speaks, he turns people off.

I hope he says a lot and that the American voters are listening.

The polls are biased. That's an easy thing to say, and it sounds much like sour grapes, but the methodology of most of the polling showing significant Dem leads are more than highly suspect, they're blatant propaganda.

Consider the multi-front effort by the Dems to destroy Bush-- 527s, Michael Moore, biased reporting/polling, Soros, etc.,etc.,etc. And what's the result? No clear lead for anybody.

This is because, let's be honest, most people have not even started looking at any of this. Most people are out there leading their lives and ignoring the political theater while they do it. These people will not begin to pay attention until after Labor Day or even later.

It's the Rats who have to be working now, to introduce their candidate, their platform, to build dissatisfaction with the current President, and let's face it, they haven't been very effective, since all these Dem-weighted polls still barely show any difference with the standings.

Let them 'get to know John Kerry.' We'll do fine after that.

As for Cheney being beaten by Edwards? Wait til a VP debate. Cheney will crush Breck Girl. I remember seeing Cheney on MEET THE PRESS (I think) shortly after September 11. He was phenomenal, clear, concise, confident, steady-- most people only know Cheney's name from Dem propaganda. When they see different, they'll drop Tort Boy like a hot potato.

Unfortunately I think Edwards is perceived to be a healthier candidate for VP.

When the clear differences between Kerry and Bush emerge in September-October, and when Bush begins talking about his second term agenda, it's light out for Kerry.

Bush/Rove are in no hurry right now.. Like someone else posted, we are in the exhibition games right now.. After the RNC Convention in Sept, it's game on, and Bush/Cheney are going open up a comfortable lead 6-8 points and win by about that same margin.

I really don't care what the polls say as the polls are totally meaningless. Liberals will give answers supporting their guy and conservatives will give answers supporting theirs. All the others couldn't give a crap and don't pay much attention anyhow so they are uninformed, rendering their opinions meaningless.

Stop reading the polls, and just watch how weak the John-Johns look. Proof positive that we're winning.

Ignore the polls. For every poll that favors Kerry another can be found that favors Bush.

Yesterday on FOX news watch they spoke of a poll that showed more people would vote for Kerry, but a related poll showed that an overwhelming number believe that Bush will be re elected.

And so it goes.
