Definitely the beagle in her. I don't recall ever meeting a stupid beagle, but they're a chatty bunch, aren't they?

Half the beagles I have ever met have been really bright, the other half, plumb nuts!

I have a stupid beagle.

The smartest dog I ever had was a beagle/lab mix. She could steal food without ever being caught. We would find the wrappers in the yard later, but never caught her in the act. I swear that she could open the refrigerator. And she knew how to manipulate both family and friends to get food or attention. She could escape from anything. She regularily scaled our six-foot wooden fence, ran around the neighborhood until she get tired of it and came home.

But the beagle I have now is just dumb. It is harder to teach her commands (like sit or stay) than any other dog I have had. She constantly tries to steal food, but always gets caught. She has also gotten a snake bite (copperhead), spider bite (that turned necrotic) and bee sting on the nose (which swelled up enough to require an emergency trip to the vet). But she hasn't learned a thing and still bothers any bug or snake she sees.
