The day didn't start off too well. My son has company, and I couldn't sleep all night. At 7am, my son and his friends hauled his amp up on top of the roof, and he played the Star Spangled Banner on his guitar. I ran out and yanked the extension cord. When I told him he could do it, I figured that he'd roll out of bed around noon, not still be up from the night before.
Dinner was a disaster. The legs on the bbq broke, so my son and his friends "improvised". A lot of chicken hit the dirt.
Then the city started the fireworks. Very nice display as usual. Once the city was done, then the real show started! Holy smoke, I can't believe all the people in the neighborhood lighting off rockets!!! It was incredible. It's almost 11pm, and they're still going off all over town. I've never seen anything like this, it's completely awesome!
I told my son he should play the Star Spangled Banner, but unfortunately he broke a string :-(
Somewhere in Ca, Michael Moore has been repeatedly hitting 911, whining about the noise....heeheee!
Has anyone else experienced an unusual increase of fireworks from the neighbors? Of course like everywhere else, it's illegal to possess or set off fireworks here.
No, where I live we celebrate our freedom by not having the freedom to shoot fireworks.
Lol! We had a neighbor who lived to make everyone's lives miserable. She called the cops on my son about six months ago for lighting off a string of chinese firecrackers. She's gone (long story), and now people are shooting off the most amazing ordnance I've ever seen.
Doesn't it suck that we can't even light up the safe and sane variety anymore?
It really sucks that this thing hit "chat" in less than 60 seconds...

LOL In Vegas too. But it hasn't stopped the neighbors. :0)
Sorry to hear about the chicken. There is an increase in my neighborhood this year. I live in Vegas. The helicopters are flying around like mad wasps trying to catch the "culprits."
I'm in Vegas too.
Last night sounded like any number of fire bases I was on when a mojor holiday hit. I don't know where the neighbors got the stuff but it was big and awesome.
Went on for several hours in my 'hood.
Our family didn't shoot off fireworks this years.
We experimented with different types of powder lit off under pressure.
This makes the illegality of it a little more palitable. Whatever the kids wanted to blow up, we blew up, within reason.
The best was a creation using a sparkler with a duct-tape "envelope" very tightly wound around it. My youngest came up with that idea.
