No, it wasn't just the tray icons, it's the whole darn desktop. I have a picture of Mt. Rainier for my desktop, and it's now lying on its side.
I've got Dell up in another window trying to communicate with them. I had assumed it was a Windows issue, but you all have made me think it may be a Dell problem.
I would find the last system restore point prior to kitty and do that before calling for tech help on this.
It is easy to do and works on everything that I have had go wrong with my Dell laptop.
Best way to get to system restore is to click help.
Try this:
Right click anywhere on desktop.
Scroll down to Poperties.
Click on Settings tab.
Change screen size.
