Help! Viking Kitty Messed Up My Computer!
Posted on 06/28/2004 9:07:28 AM PDT by Not A Snowbird
Help, all you techies out there. Last night my cat sat on my keyboard (all 24 pounds of him). When I finally dislodged him, I discovered my screen display had rotated 90 degrees. I can't figure out what combination of keys he sat on to cause this, so I can't undo what he did.
Anybody out there know what to do? I'm working on a Dell with Windows XP. And please don't tell me to get a Mac, that would not be very helpful right now.

At 24 pounds, I'm impressed he
could get up onto the keyboard. Bull (21 pounds) cannot.

Hopefully it was rotated to the right.

Can you do a system restore to a day earlier than when kitty sat on the keys?

Since it's a Dell. Call them up and tell them this story. If they don't Zot you, they've probably got a fix.

Hopefully it was rotated to the right. That's the problem. It rotated left. This simply cannot stand!

Not exactly sure what you mean, but going into the control panel, switch to classic view and click on the display icon. You might be able to get to somehow reset it back to where it was.... Keep the kitty litter handy....

The new Dell flat screen monitors, some of them, can be rotated like the old Xerox word processor screens. Maybe a google would turn up something.

If you have a dell monitor, have you checked to see if that isnt the cause of your problem?

Can you do a system restore to a day earlier than when kitty sat on the keys? I could try, but the mouse isn't working too well right now. I think it's confused.

I assume it's not a laptop. Try fixing it from the buttons on your monitor. You should find a restore button.Hope that helps.
To: SandyInSeattle
but the mouse isn't working too well right now.Probably because the cat was sitting there so long....
