In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today. Havent checked my mood ring yet. Yall behave yourselves, ya hear? Principal JimRob is still out of town. I expect the utmost respect on this thread today. The Mods have been overworked lately.
The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer.
Toroid noun:
Pronunciation: Tor-roid (how easy is that?)
1) A surface generated by the rotation of a plane closed curve about an axis lying in the plane and not intersecting it
2) A body whose surface has the form of a toroid.
3) Not in the dictionary, but in other words a DONUT would be toroidal (adverb). This is for xs and her Dunkin Donut friends. Id like a chocolate toroidal, please.
actually, there was no discernible beach traffic, which surprised me. we spent 2 hours on the DC beltway trying to GET to route 50. there was an accident that closed all 5 lanes of it and we just had to wait it out. there was no other viable way to go, he went that way around the beltway to avoid the Wilson Bridge which is a nightmare bc of construction. once we got going on route 50 to annapolis and beyond, it was smooth sailing.
oh yuck, that is awful, so do they have to wait for the swelling to go down to deal with the tooth or what? poor little coolbreeze, that has to be miserable.
i thought of you guys because this place is having Gretchen Wilson's Redneck Woman concert there also, i am not sure what the date was. wasn't that the song you guys were talking about once? i like country ok, but 9 hours straight of terri clark (cds in the car to and fro...then the concert) had my teeth on edge. The last 20 min of the drive i commandeered the radio away from him and put it on the rock station.
He has a dentist appoing a week from monday....this was not the tooth to be dealt with that day - but most likely it will be now.
He stopped at the dentists office on the way home from work on Thursday and was greated by a sign "closed due to family emergency" What a nightmare. We finally got through to the backup guy who immediately called in an antibiotic prscription.
His face is still swollen, but not nearly as bad as it was and it is not nearly as painful, either. The dog hitting him in the face with her head last evening did not help matters.
no, that must have been horrific pain. i winced when i read it.
HE!! YEAH!
That's the song we were talking about.
I love country music - but that much of any one artist would be enough for me to be switching stations!
he was actually crying and there wasn't a dang thing I could do to help.
LOL - Jax just came in the house and grabbed the broom....I asked her where she was going and she told me she had to broom down the side walk because it was covered in grass!!!
Terri clark is good. i actually laughed out loud when she took her hat off for a few songs, saying she needed to prove that she wasn't bald at some point in the concert. SG had said that very thing to me, that she suspected a bald spot! she was not stick skinny, had a nice shape, but looked like a size 12 or so, which is always refreshing to not have all entertainers be some skinny minnie type. she has a lesbian following from what i could detect in the audience. xshub was going to be crushed if she turned out to be a dyke, but i think it is just maybe who she appeals to. I think one of the things said about her was she is the type of woman who could kick your @$$ and make you like it. so you could see how that might appeal to the lesbo contingent.
i love a helper!
is the Southern Living party today? i can't wait to hear bout it, i think i would really like one of those. This afternoon is the day of beauty, which got me through that long drive yesterday,to and from the concert, thinking ahead to my facial and massage etc.
Oh good grief.
the timer went off on the chicken coolbreeze put in the oven - so I went to get it out. he did not put half of it in the freezer......he cooked ALL 10 pounds of it.
that's a whole lotta eatin'.... ; )
but he was a HELPER!
You've got that right........but I'm not going to say a word about it. I was supposed to have done the chicken last night but had no energy.
When we got back from Chincoteague all I wanted to do was lay down and take a nap - but I didn't because he needed to and Jax was in and out of the house. the fact that he celaned up the kitchen and cut up all that chicken this morning...........nope, not gonna say a word.
Weren't the old Rogers and Hammerstein works just wonderful? The music and lyrics were uplifting and witty, made to encourage the listener to sing along.
That quote from the song, using "folderol", had stuck in my mind from childhood. It took me a bit to find it on Google. I think Cinderella was redone recently, to "modernize" it, and make it attractive to the present day generation of rug rats. I'll take the original version, however.
Glad the concert was good. Also glad to hear there is no bald spot. I had wondered.
Enjoy your day of beauty!! Yep, I just had a shower, and am getting ready for the Southern Living party. I'll report back later. When are yunz leaving for HI?
We're all showered and the cooler is loaded and the van is loaded - so we're off for our fishing tournament and day at the beach.
Y'aall have fun today!
i got xsboy to go out and weed my flower bed for me today for cash money and he gets bit by a dang bee! i had gone to the bookstore with xsbrownie to pick up the Barkley books we ordered for her, and i get the frantic call from xshub about the beesting. i said, well so long as he isn't feeling dizzy or lightheaded, and of course, he was feeling dizzy and lightheaded. xshub could not find the benadryl, so i had to stop at the drugstore and come home. he is fine of course, was feeling better by the time i got there. does it sound like allergy to you, SG or Ceej? the last time i got stung by yellow jackets, i got sick, dizzy and then broke out into hives. he isn't doing the hive thing. i have lost any weeders in this house that i might have had now : (
A paste of baking soda and water will help, between ice packs. I got stung by a wasp about 3 weeks ago and that was painful. I truly feel his pain! I would always give the benadryl after a sting anyway.
Our recital is this afternoon and my stomach is in knots and I don't know why. My job is strictly backstage!
