Practical areas. I'm good on theory...
Ok, so there's an undergrad level AI course... which I've had... but I'd like to work with this professor. And three grad-level courses that look interesting, and I'd like to work with these guys, but I can't take all three, I'd die...
I gots a solo this Sunday...*shudder* choirs doin' "Jesus, What A Mighty Name"... it's really out of muh range... but if'n I wear the tight thong mrsnad gave me a few years ago, I just might pull it off...
You could use your Time Turner to take all three courses. . . :)
Seriously, not overloading yourself the first semester is probably a good idea. The AI course might be worth it if the professor is working in a field you want to network in. Is AI what you want to get into?
Practical areas. . .how are you on the hardware side of things? Seems like that comes in handy a lot.
I'm mildly ok with hardware. I can swap in DIMMs and avoid static-shocking the motherboard and I've been know to pull cases apart, but nothing fancy. I'm really not much of a hardware girl. Gimme the theory...
The AI course might be redundant with another course at a graduate level. Maybe brush up my l33t object-oriented skillz.
Heh. I went online to find apartment reviews. The place I ended up at had maybe 4 reviews. The worst one was that it was too expensive. The place is okay for an apartment.
The reason I thought of hardware is because it seems like that's where I end up calling tech support (i.e. my brother :) most often, usually in relation to either installation or repairs, so that seems to me like it's a practical area where it's handy to know stuff. Some other stuff I'd think of as "practical" would be stuff like installing/configuring/repairing operating systems, setting up networks, setting up security software, and removing viruses/repairing damage from viruses. Oh, and learning about burning cookies--another very practical area :)
Object-oriented programming seems pretty interesting, too.
Out of curiosity, did you run across any good apartment sources, online? I've got a few but they're so clutzy.
Oh, drat! The Object-Oriented class conflicts with the graduate-leve AI course!
I'm trying to remember where that survey was. I looked mostly at local apartment guides and a real estate agent recommendation. I was trying to find a house or townhome to rent but had a problem finding someone who would allow pets. I didn't want to spend too much time on this search because staying in hotels was getting old and I wanted my kitty!
I need something cheap, clean, and livable... cheap being about the most important thing. I'm trying to have a list of ten or so places to check out for next week.
"Oh, drat! The Object-Oriented class conflicts with the graduate-leve AI course!"
Time to use the Time Turner! :) Which do you think you'll pick? If it was me I'd probably take object-oriented 'cause you can use that for a lot of different applications including AI applications.
Maybe you could find a real estate place that does rentals. The one I used was the one that most of the relocated people were using so I guess it was a corporate thingy.
WEll....dond't get so cheap that all your neighbors are low-lifes! :)
Guess I'll have to start house-hunting soon. *sigh*
Also high on my list of most important things was avoiding noise pollution. Ending up next to a noisy neighbor can be no fun.
I believe this is the ratings site I looked at: http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/
Avoid apartments with a high number of reviews and a low rating. :)
"Avoid apartments with a high number of reviews and a low rating. :)"
LOL!
Heck.... this place was full of garbage and over-grown, but I saw potential and the price was right, and I hauled the trash away and made the improvements myself. If you are willing to work on them, there are great places to find to rent. My landlord was not real responsive to fixing the place up to being livable.... but he also isn't on my case, he hasn't set foot on the property in three years.
nice evening for it...
By "this place" I mean the place I am at now, not the little college houses...
