Word For The Day, Wednesday, June 16, 2004
Webster's New Third Internantional Dictionary | Wednesday, June 16, 2004We | Slip 18

Posted on 06/16/2004 5:44:41 AM PDT by Slip18

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today. Haven’t checked my mood ring yet. Y’all behave yourselves, ya hear? Principal JimRob is still out of town. I expect the utmost respect on this thread today. The Mods have been overworked lately.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer.

vagary noun:
Pronunciation: Pronounced about three different ways. Take your pick.
Etymology: Probably fr. Latin

1) Archaic: Journey, excursion, tour (Sea Dragon’s adventures?)
2) Archaic: An aimless digression
3) Obsequious: (a) A departure from the regular, lawful or proper course of conduct. (b)Caper, frolic
4) A departure from the normal, expected or logical order of course. (a) A capricious, eccentric or unpredictable action. (b) A change that is hard to predict or explain.

Good Morning Class. Welcome to School!

RULES: You must use the WFTD in a sentence for an A. For a + after your “A,” you must bring in a link of the word usage or something funny, a poem or some prose that will elucidate the word for us.

If you need to know how to link, come to the Subbie’s desk in the front of the class.

Well bully for you.

You also don't have a 5 yo who refuses to go to sleep at the allocated bed time and keeps bugging you half the night.

I saw the party paraphenalia for xsbrownie.......CUTE.

It seems you and I are both doing B'day parties the same day. I opted for the 10th because hers falls on 4th of July weekend. Pizza and miniature golf for the kiddies.

It will be a vagary act when Hillary opens Kerry's FBI file for public viewing. Terresa will jerk his chain so hard he will ask for Purple Heart #4.

The suit was dismaissed but do you think Carville shared Barr's FBI file info. with Larry Flynt? Do you think it could happen again to get Hillary on the ticket?

xsbrownie's bday is the 8th. i figure we will take them to the pool at Army Navy and then back to the house for refreshments. Normally she has a much bigger guest list, so having the class size cut down like this, makes it much less stressful. But with xshub inviting DOGS to the party, i am not quite sure how that is going to go!
