Word For The Day, Wednesday, June 16, 2004
Webster's New Third Internantional Dictionary | Wednesday, June 16, 2004We | Slip 18

Posted on 06/16/2004 5:44:41 AM PDT by Slip18

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today. Haven’t checked my mood ring yet. Y’all behave yourselves, ya hear? Principal JimRob is still out of town. I expect the utmost respect on this thread today. The Mods have been overworked lately.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer.

vagary noun:
Pronunciation: Pronounced about three different ways. Take your pick.
Etymology: Probably fr. Latin

1) Archaic: Journey, excursion, tour (Sea Dragon’s adventures?)
2) Archaic: An aimless digression
3) Obsequious: (a) A departure from the regular, lawful or proper course of conduct. (b)Caper, frolic
4) A departure from the normal, expected or logical order of course. (a) A capricious, eccentric or unpredictable action. (b) A change that is hard to predict or explain.

Good Morning Class. Welcome to School!

RULES: You must use the WFTD in a sentence for an A. For a + after your “A,” you must bring in a link of the word usage or something funny, a poem or some prose that will elucidate the word for us.

If you need to know how to link, come to the Subbie’s desk in the front of the class.

Hey, look, Hobbes, xs is giving us her "come hither" look! She checks out the whole joint with her eyes and then settles for the guy right in front of her. I'd watch out, though, since she only charges a buck we're likely to receive unpleasant souvenirs.

"I'll have them fingerpainting in the back of the classroom."

Can we finger-paint each other? It doesn't always have to be messy.

Um, there is a shower around here somewhere, isn't there?

Kind of pricey. But heck, we've just paid for wedding pics, so it isn't too bad in comparison.

Argh, you are not comparing xs to the Pittsburgh Steelers are you?

They suck at everything too....

Wedding pix are majorly different then pix of the family pooch.

We lucked out on wedding pix costs.....friends took them. And our video was a wedding present from a friend who is a videographer.

HAH!!

I wouldn't. I've never tried the Pittsburgh Steelers. They're a little outside my bellywhack, er, bailiwick.

I have re written the Pledge of Allegence. "Hey Flag, Yea America, Let's Roll. Amen!" The Amen is optional of course and not allowed in public school.

Yes they are different. We sucked it up and had 2 photogs there, but the video was done with my brother's video camera set up on a tripod in the balcony. He set it up when we were doing photos before the ceremony, and it ran til the end. Pretty funny stuff...like David's daughter adjusting a fern in the empty sanctuary, then when she was back with me, her husband adjusted the same fern.

Do you know a good site to host pics for free that will link to FR? If so, hook a brother up.

The Amen is optional of course and not allowed in public school.

It sure is in public schools in Virginia.

Pictures, posters and plaques containing the words "In God We Trust" are in every classroom and every hallway in my daughter's school. And I am under the impression somewhere in EVERY public school in the entire state.
