Stennis (CVN 74), sailors perform a 21-gun salute in honor of former President Ronald Reagan on the day of his final internment at the Reagan Presidential Library, in Simi Valley, Calif. Ronald Reagan, the 40th U.S. President of the United States, passed away recently after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. (Jun. 11, 2004) - As the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4) returns from a routine underway period, Sailors assigned to Naval Air Station North Island Weapons Department take part in a 21-gun salute in memory of former President Ronald Reagan during the National Day of Mourning for the late President. The Sailors, who synchronized their volleys with those of the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68), fired one round every minute for 21 minutes beginning at noon.
