Yes the Printer page for the Wash. Post seems to work better - it goes to a different link.

The link:

works without registering, but the link: requires registration.

This still leaves my initial question - how can Google arrange so that it has be linking to the "requires registeraion" link, but not require it?

OK, I see what you mean now. Apparently the Washington Post allows Google users to bypass registration.
