I'll say it again, if Osama had declared a jihad against SHS and tabak, he'd rule the US!
I don't know how wonky and twisted your gov't pension vs refugee programs are, but how's this for screwed up?

I think the effort to resettle refugees in smaller communities is an excellent effort. These refugees may find it easier to integrate into a smaller community especially if accompanied by some of their compatriots.
I also found it interesting that the federal government provides a single refugee with a monthly allowance of $1,890 and each can also get an additional $580 in social assistance for a total of $2,470.
This compares very well to a single pensioner who after contributing to the growth and development of Canada for 40 years can only receive a monthly maximum of $1,012 in old age pension and Guaranteed Income Supplement. Maybe our pensioners should apply as refugees?
Private clubs, fraternal organizations and volunteer fire companies are all exempt from the smoking ban in Delaware. But nursing homes, senior centers, and Churches are NOT.
It is a scary thought.

That is definitely screwed up.
I know there are many wonderful Candians, and I have met many of them here at FR....unfortunately I have also met far too many of the "other" type.....such as the one I describe in my post 60.
This guy actually believes that I have ties with terrorist groups because I am against smoking bans and increased tobacco taxes. He also wants my daughter removed from our home by the state, because in his mind my husband and I are unfit as parents because we are smokers.
Nor am I this stalker. Just in case someone thinks it might be.

That's a possibility. There's a site on the web that translates your phone # into two words. Mine turns into "pig-fang". A (female) friend of mine's # becomes "fun-blis(s)".
I wish I could remember the site addy.
