Date of first impact as predicted by Aussie Bloak (June 18-20) is close to the splash down mentioned in the Snowball Net transmission which works out to be June 21 (longest day of the year). Keep in mind that Australia is on the other side of the international dateline.

Unusual coincidence or maybe just a coordinated hoax?

"Z for Zacharia" by Robert C. O'Brien, is often recommended for middle school kids...I read it before my children, and still am not sure I should have let them read this...but I sure enjoyed it! Spooky, dark, about life after the blast.

Then, on top of it all, today we have real life imitating the movies again (Deep Impact).....with the resignation of the CIA director for "personal reasons...."

Just musing.....

Yes, it does. Except that it will eventually happen. When it does, it's going to be bad news. And statistically, we're overdue.

That said, I will repeat my mantra for this thread. 'This is scaremongering, and a hoax as well'. I am not at all worried about the month of June, except for financial and health reasons.

After playing on this thread the other day, I rented it. I am rewatching it tonight. It's on pause in the other room. President Freeman is about to lay it down.

Scope out the Word document scenario in the link in my #160. Scroll down to the bottom, and hit 'cancel' when the security authentication dialog comes up.

The original post read like a hoax to me, as well. Due to my circumstances, I have no concern about an impact, so it's just interesting. ;-D

And anything can happen, this is just a nice distraction from politics. The probable meteors in Washington State and New Jersey add a little spice to the story.

Hollywood's latest disaster movie fixation, the Earth threatened by the impact of giant comets or asteroids, could be dangerously out of date according to scientists in the US.
They believe life on Earth is more likely to be wiped out by an impact with a cosmic cloud.

The predictions by Gary Zank, from the Bartol Research Institute at the University of Delaware, have been presented to the American Geophysical Union's spring meeting in Boston, Massachusetts.

The Cygnus Loop, a Supernova blastwave meets a cosmic gas cloud (NASA)
His research shows that if the Solar System hits even a small gas cloud in space, the "bubble" surrounding it which protects life on our planet could burst.

"The protective solar wind would be extinguished, and cosmic radiation might lead to gene mutations," he said.

"Hydrogen would bombard the Earth, producing increased cloud cover, leading perhaps to global warming, or extreme amounts of precipitation and ice ages."

He based his prediction on computer simulations of what might happen to the "cocoon" created by the solar wind, charged particles flowing out from the sun.

"We're surrounded by hot gas. As our sun moves through extremely `empty' or low-density interstellar space, the solar wind produces a protective bubble, the heliosphere around our Solar System, which allows life to flourish on Earth.

Eta Carinae, prior to explosion, giving out vast clouds of gas (NASA)
"Unfortunately, we could bump into a small cloud at any time, and we probably won't see it coming. Without the heliosphere, neutral hydrogen would interact with our atmosphere, possibly producing catastrophic climate changes, while our exposure to deadly cosmic radiation in the form of very high-energy cosmic rays would increase.

"We won't know that our heliosphere is collapsing until we see highly elevated levels of neutral hydrogen and cosmic rays," said Professor Zank.

Although there is no need to panic right now, our descendants in 50,000 years should be alarmed.

Pushed by galactic wind, a particularly troublesome cloud zone located in a star-forming region near the Aquila Rift, about 815 light years away, is "clearly headed our way" according to Professor Zank.

He is also warning that small knots of gas called the "Local Fluff" could be encountered far sooner.

Mankind has been lucky so far, Professor Zank believes, as over the past five million years "we've had incredibly smooth sailing" because the sun has been coasting through calm interstellar waters that are virtually empty, containing on average less than one atom per cubic inch of space.

Although the solar system is in a region of space containing between three and four atoms per cubic inch, the weather in space could change because the universe is "full of clouds".

Interesting. Do the clouds in the universe include the tails of comets? Not exactly a "cloud" -- but possibly a density of 3-4 atoms per cubic inch...

"Could you ask him if Itokawa is associated with any meteor activity, such as the Sagittarids, or if he knows a site with detailed info to research that question?"

I assume he was referring to me, to ask the question?

To the BEST of my knowledge, almost every meteor shower we experience is associated with comets, not asteroids. Comets' nature being what they are, pieces of them tend to break off, and mostly small pieces about the size of sand grains. When we see meteor showers, we're usually seeing I think, what's left of the comet's tail.

I am not a memory bucket so I usually have to look things up regarding data on various pieces of rocks in the sky, and and Itokawa is no exception. It's a NEA which will pass roughly .013AU (1.95 million km, or about 1.17 million miles) from Earth. I don't have the tools at work to work out its orbit at the moment (though I hear there are some good tools upstairs, I just don't have anyone that can run the tracks for me, since they're pretty busy, what with the war and all :)), but I don't think it actually crosses our orbit.

I THINK it comes in at an eccentric angle (above or below the ecliptic, or plane of the planets). If that's the case, the chances of a path for orbital debris is slim. Doesn't mean there isn't a little, but on the other hand, asteroids simply don't "break off". Also, chances are if this thing has passed us before, and there was any debris to be pulled into the atomsphere, it's probably already gone. Of course, all of this is conjecture on my part.

Here's a couple of links you can pass on:

http://www.isas.ac.jp/e/snews/2004/1226_itokawa.shtml

http://echo.jpl.nasa.gov/~ostro/itokawa.html

http://www.spacedaily.com/news/asteroid-04b.html

I'm not sure if this is what kind of information you're looking for, but I hope it helps. Just as a reference, the Moon's orbit takes it around the Earth at a distance from approximately 229500 to 243000 miles (at it's closest and furthest distance, respectively). So this asteroid passes approximately 5 times the distance of the moon. It's still considered "near earth asteroid" status though probably because that's not all that far when you think about it, and the moon's, as well as the earth's gravitational fields can affect its future path through space.

That's the long answer. The short answer is, "I don't think so".

Audio Tape, first thoughts:

Wow. Nice find on the mp3. Thank you very much. I've listened to it through 4-5 times now, with some pauses, to listen to a couple of areas over and over. Here's what I know:

Most likely there WAS a shortwave recording being made here. The "Snowball" net station is a computer voice, automated. The PSSSST sounds heard throughout the tape are packet signals. They are most likely 9600 baud packet bursts. As an explanation, packet is a digital signal, usually data that has been processed through a device called a terminal node controller (or TNC) or some other modem-like device that takes the data and sends it out via radio. There is a type of error checking in the headers that allows for the data to be resent, IF the receiving station is active and talking back. I did NOT hear that secondary response, so this data was one way apparently. One other rather important aspect to this packet signal, the FCC restricts the use of high speed digital signals to higher frequencies, especially with us Hams. That is, due to the bandwidth requirements of such a signal, and HF radio (which is between 2-30 Megahertz) usually is limited to 300 or 1200 baud packet/FSK/other types of digital signals. Above 30, however, 9600 baud is not uncommon and is used as a reasonable data transfer speed at those higher frequencies. I have personally USED 9600 below 30 Mhz with the military, so I know it done sometimes. It's not extremely reliable at long distances however, due to atmospheric noise, like lightning strikes and whatever other random noise patterns you can hear in such a receiver. If the communication is CLEAR, then it is no problem. Further, the military isn't really limited on "bandwidth" technically, and even though they still must follow certain rules when it comes to radio transmissions, those rules are ignored if a mission is essential. (I've personally ignored a few rules, when it come to accomplishing a mission.)

In the background, in at least two places on the tape I heard a morse code signal. It is an automated signal, and was at around 30 wpm, which is much faster than my rusty mind can copy. I'll have to slow the tape down to get it better, but I will. It is down in the noise level, but I copied a couple of letters out of the signal. One of the was the letter S. I think the other was I. However, both times, it was over ridden by either voice audio or packet bursts, so I can't quite pull it out of the mud. I have sent myself the file at home and will work on this in the next few days and see if I can't get more information out of it.

The answering station is a male voice (not computer generated). No identification. Sounds... well, semi-professional. It DOES sound... "faked" to me. However, people who aren't normally operating a radio all the time tend to "sound fake" anyway, when they key a microphone. They are usually thinking about "all those people that will hear me, so I better not screw up"... thus, psychologically, they tend to "act" when on the radio.

At the end of the computer voice, there is a set of tones that are transmitted. Those tones are sync tones. I do not want to say what those sync tones are associated with here in this forum, but I am reasonably certain of their origin. I will verify that sound as soon as I can, and if I can verify it, I will tell you.

Whether this is "authentic" I don't know. Can anyone, perhaps the person that posted the link, get me in contact with the original person who recorded this tape? Or has HE not come forward either? Who is this "ham radio club"? Does anyone know? Does anyone know where ANY of this originated (the original sites that posted all this in the first place that started all this)?

The only way to honestly get to the bottom of a story is to go to the source. I think I'm qualified to verify whether this is a real tape, if I can talk to the original source. (It sure helps being a real communications person, doesn't it? :) Not to mention being an amateur astronomer!)

Give me a few days to work on this, and I will see what other tid bits I can pull out of the noise level.

25 years ago I was at an astronomer’s convention in Canberra and we were discussing the possible effects of the debris cloud of the crab nebula passing through our solar system in 2000 to 2005.

The Crab Nebula (also denoted as M1 in the Messier catalog) is the most famous and conspicuous known supernova remnant, an cloud of gas created in the explosion of a star as supernova. The supernova that caused the Crab Nebula was seen on 4 July 1054 AD by Chinese astronomers. The explosion was at least 4 times brighter than the planet Venus (about Mag -6, which is pretty bright), and this explosion was visible in the daylight for about 25 days (give or take a couple of days).

In 1731 a fella named John Bevis discovered the Nebula.

Here's the kicker. The star that was in the Crab Nebula, the one that exploded, is still there. It's called a varible star. It is also.... wait for it... 6300 light years away. (http://adsabs.harvard.edu/cgi-bin/bib_query?1973PASP...85..579T)

Let's do some math. 25 years ago, "they" were discussing the possible effects of the debris cloud. That is, perhaps factual. However.. that would place this discussion in 1979.

The supernova that created the Crab Nebula occured in 1054.

That means we SAW it in 1054, the actual explosion occured approximately 7354 years ago. Light from the explosion reached the Earth in 1054, or 6300 years later.

That basically means that objects, debris, dust and gases have not yet reached Earth, and probably won't for millions of years. You see, as far as we know, MATTER (debris) doesn't travel at the speed or light, or even high fractions thereof.

Thus, in my humble opinion, this "Aussie Bloke" is porobably NOT an astronomer. Oh yeah, by 1973 it was an estabished FACT that the Crab Nebula was 6300 light years away. That means that if they were discussing "a debris cloud" in 1979, they were definately taking nonsense at that point. Any scientist who is going to discuss such things under the idea that it 'could happen' would at LEAST have bothered to look up how far away such an object happens to be. :)

THE ENTIRE PLANET MAY BE IN DEEP TROUBLE: a Government Coverup is Exposed

by Will Anderson "Blueotter", www.prophecykeepers.com

All Worldwide Rights Reserved

June 3, 2004 Cabool, MO

A senior Australian Physicist/Astronomer began revealing -- first anonymously and now publicly -- that his government Physics/Astronomy team had discovered -- some 20 years ago -- that a HUGE Outer Space debris cloud/field is headed toward us and will arrive on June 8/9, 2004 -- along with 3 heavy objects that they have believed for 10 years will most certainly strike the earth causing massive upheavals... *unless* they miss us by a VERY close margin. Dr Gartrell said only time will tell.

Many N.E.O. or "Near Earth Objects" have been discovered lately -- but announced in the media only AFTER they passed our planet within 250,000 miles or so!

Dr. Gartrell's testimony has been both broad and deep. It is all on our website at www.prophecykeepers.com as he has requested publicly that it be broadcasted far and wide.

Dr. Gartrell now feels he is telling us all of this information at the risk of his own life, because he was muzzled many years ago by his government -- and has been threatened -- but he is at peace with God and resigned to what he feels is our fate now that he has visited his family between 5/15 and 5/29/2004.

He has now been further identified by www.Prophecykeepers.com Radio as "Dr. Grant Gartrell" of Mount Compass, South Australia -- facts which can be easily verified by anyone with a search engine.

Dr. Gartrell is either a bonafide physicist, or he lied to the South Australian Parliament. It is as simple as that. He has in the past publicly testified in front of the South Australian Parliament and has given his name and address... and has published scientific papers along with other scientists on the subject of possibly threatening outer space objects. He was testifying concerning caves, as he is an amateur cave explorer who has made important discoveries of Pliestocene era dinosaur bones... and that information is also on the Internet for all to see.

He began revealing his disturbing facts anonymously on 4/29/04, and as promised on 5/15/04 that he would reveal his identity within two weeks -- to give him time for him to visit family -- and on 5/29/04 he revealed his surname as "Dr. Gartrell."

Prophecykeepers.com Radio did some simple research and discovered his actual full name, address, and phone number... and that he does operate a "pick-your-own" Blueberry farm nowadays where he also manufactures wine. He originally claimed his full history was freely available if anyone dug deep enough... and we apparently did... and it was available -- just as he claimed.

IF you *fully* read Dr. Grant's Gartrell's LONG testimony, suddenly it SHOULD dawn on you, as it did on Prophecykeepers.com, that SOMETHING HUGE OF EARTH SHATTERING PROPORTIONS IS HAPPENENING AND THE GOVERNMENTS OF THE WORLD OBVIOUSLY KNOW ABOUT IT!

You should begin to understand:

Why huge meteorites are now being seen worldwide and have been reported by so many truckers in the skies in the last few weeks... and buzzed a town in New Jersey rattling windows.

Why the navies of the world are all out to sea as of this month... and why military bases are humming with activity and closed bases are being reopened and refurbished...

Why the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank has put an unprecedented amount of money into liquidity (cash in circulation in the banks)... more than at any time in the past... enough to devalue the dollar by a whopping 20% !!!

Why the sun is appears to be getting "whiter..."

The REAL reason why the climate is changing...

Similarities to the Mayan "Black Road" prophecy...

How what Dr. Gartrell is saying is consistent with both Native/Tribal and European Prophecies...

How the "debris cloud" is scheduled to arrive just as the the Venus transit is visible in the Northern Hemisphere on June 7/8... an event which has ALWAYS caused much concern for Cherokees and Mayans who have long respected the transit and its implications... implications of irreversible changes, wars, destruction, etc.

...and why Prophecykeepers.com is going out on a limb and believes Dr. Gartrell is telling the truth...

...and you will learn what Prophecykeepers.com feels perhaps what you ought do to about all of this right now... and it is the same story we have been telling online since 1996.

Facts reported:

A lone ham radio operator digitally recorded an intercept of a U.S. military SSB (Single Side Band) radio transmission (before the transmission was suddenly shutdown because they mistakenly broadcast "in the clear" or non-encrypted) on 26 January of this year referring to a mysterious "countdown" to an unnamed event which (by the countdown) will occur around June 19 or 20 of this year. In the past few weeks, however, naval units worldwide have been putting to sea in unusual numbers, sufficient to cause us to revisit the original message to assess movements and adopt a watch mode going forward into the June 19-20 date area. You will be able to listen to this radio transmission.

An ex-Green Beret reports:

Lots of the "air traffic is flying into, but not back out of, Holloman AFB and Whitesands Missile Range at night. Also, the Patriot missile battery crews at Ft. Bliss, TX are jumpy as all hell, are on constant standby, and are NOT preparing to deploy to Iraq. Go figure."

Now there is always the possibility that "Dr. Gartrell" is just making wine in near Adelaide, and someone has hijacked his name... and that this is all a hoax, or this may be disinformation and a "feint" to get us to look "here" when we should be looking "there." The point is, that BIG things are definitely going on with the military on a world wide scale, the financial world is humming, peolpe are scared... and something is up! Just what is the big question on many people's minds and lips.

I agree that something strange is afoot. I don't think it has to do with comets, however. If this Dr. Gartrell really was concerned he could have gotten an audience on several news stations and stated his findings. His rantings on obscure "end of the world" websites seriously discredit his message.

I'm actually more afraid of what I really think is going on - expansion of the WOT due to coming major terror attacks (wmd's).

I can't believe that this thread is STILL running!

I'd like to know how everybody is CONVINCED that it was
a meteor that killed off the dinosaurs.
Me, I believe it was Noah's flood that did it...

Somebody hit it right when they suggested the lunacy in believing that the same governments who can't seem to agree on how to tie shoelaces can keep a secret so big that the entire planet is at stake.

This is unbelievable! I think I'd better run to Home Depot for some silver spray paint and sell some umbrellas while the gettin's good!

Do the clouds in the universe include the tails of comets?

The density of "clouds in the universe" would naturally vary greatly and in certain areas most probably equal the density of comet tails found in our solar system. Tails of comets are perpendicular to the orbits of planets and transition times are measured in days for planets to traverse the dust/debris fields.

A cosmic dust cloud on the other hand might be a few million miles to light years across and could envelope the entire solar system thereby destroying the bubble that protects us from the great majority of cosmic radiation.

It could also reduce the amount of sunlight reaching Earth, cause rapid decay of orbiting satellites due to friction, disrupt the orbits of a trillion+ comets and bodies in the Oort cloud and harbor numerous other bodies that could impact Earth.

I'm just a amateur space enthusiast but know enough to hope we never encounter a cosmic cloud in our life times!

:-)
