Mornin'

Great garden pics. Rainy and dreary here too. But today is the day of our first swim meet. Since Jr. isn't on the team, I gotta be down at the pool by 11 in case we decide to open today. (All the other board members have kids on the team) Not sure we will open at all. We don't have any guard available not on the swim team so we have to close at 2 anyway. I may just say the heck with it for today. We didn't open yesterday either.

I didn't do the square foot gardening thing this year, but I've got stuff growing. I've got maters on the vine too. Need to restake them. And I need to set out my herbs. They've outgrown their pots. If it isn't monsooning again this afternoon, I'll do that.

I'm frustrated that NOTHING is blooming in the back yet. I just don't get it. It's all nice an green, but no blooms. I've used the Miracle Grow "bloom booster" (or whatever they call it). The daylilies aren't even blooming.

I'm thinking their just not getting enough sun. They get good morning sun and dappled afternoon sun. But I think those other two trees are gonna have to go before I get better results.

You might want to consider some of the lower light type plants and flowers, like are found in the forest understory. The Conservation Department in your state may have plant lists of shade tolerant plants. They usually aren't as popular as the full-partial sun varieties but they are out there.
