That's just wrong on so many levels.
Well, my FRiend...I nearly got hit by the roof of a house.
Yes, we are without power at my house, a tree is down on the line. They are saying it may be Sunday before they get to it to fix it.
But that's not the big story and as usual with my life, it is indeed a story.
I think I mentioned yesterday that my parents were coming in between two storms...and that I wanted to run to their house and turn on their water? Well, I did that and right after I got their water on, they pulled in...they missed the first storm and got in before the second one hit.
As a matter of fact, we thought we had time to clean out the camper (a large gooseneck...g'nad's seen it from the outside)...so we cleaned it out and then decided we had time to run into town to drop the trailer off at the storage place. I decided to go with my dad because my mom was tired from the long drive.
So we get to camper place and start getting the camper ready for storage. I helped a bit, but mostly it was stuff that only my dad knew how to do...so I stood in the parking lot and watched the sky.
There was a long band of storm clouds (no rain) that went clear cross the sky from south-west to north-east. It was stationary. From the North-west, a swath of storm clouds rushed over and "zipped" up with the stationary clouds...started at the south-west and just zipped up together.
When the zip got directly over us, we felt a rush of really cold air and as I stared directly up, the sky began to turn in a circle...directly above us. I said to Dad "Would ya look at that?!!" and my dad looked up, then bagan shouting "GET IN THE TRUCK!! GET IN THE TRUCK!!"
I dashed over and got in the truck and we went tearing out of the parking lot...but we didn't get out...Dad said "We aren't gonna make it!"' and he whipped into the office building parking lot.
We went to jump out and just as I got my door open, the roof from a house just a short distance away just peeled off and came flying by my door. It shot at a velocity that I have never seen before.
I struggled to hold the door shut with my right and started screaming at my dad, saying "GET BACK IN!!" and with my left hand I grabbed him and pulled him down into the truck seat.
Just seconds later, the whole thing was over and this woman inside the building came running out to see if everyone was alright. The man inside the house was shouting "MY ROOF BLEW OFF!!" and the door to the office building was all tore up. Then it started to rain and hail.
We got in the office building and I tried to call Steve and my hands were shaking so hard that I couldn't hardly hold the phone, much less dial it! Finally I got through to him and told him where I was and that I was ok. We waited till the storm died down a bit and then drove back to my parents house.
Now I don't have electricity at my house and I'm posting from my mom's.
You really will have to expect me when you see me! LOL

Seriesly, I'm glad you're okay. That had to be pretty frightening. Hope your power is back soon. Heaven knows I know that that's like.
Some stories do tend to put things back into perspective, don't they folks?

You need a storm alert like mine. It wakes the dead.
We had an alarm go off about a week ago although it must not have been in my neighborhood 'cause I had to go outside to hear it.
I forgot to mention the SOUND it made!! The wind BUZZED! It was unbelievable.
I have just never seen anything like that in my life. I'm pretty sure if a storm is coming from now on, I'm getting us ready WAY in advance. This happened so quick that we barely had time to get the truck stopped...
