Even at 68, Bruno Sammartino's handshake will make you grit your teeth if you're not ready for it.
Bears have smaller paws.
"I've been his physician for 10 years, and he's in better shape than anyone in here," Dr. Frank Santucci told about 80 people who paid tribute to Sammartino Tuesday, one day after the anniversary of his winning the World Wide Wrestling Federation championship 41 years ago, when he defeated Buddy Rogers in 48 seconds. Sammartino was nearly unbeatable.

bruno=real man
I betch Bruno stands when he pees!
Heck, he prolly even stands when he ... nevermind.
Bruno was my favorite on WIIC's (now WPXI) Studio Wrestling (with Chilly Billy) in the 1960s. I've probably mentioned this, but my late father worked at WIIC then and produced a Clio award-winning promo for that program. He also said Pie Traynor, who shilled for show sponsor American Heating, was just the nicest man anyone would want to meet. *sigh* Bringing back those memories now!
Good grief, WG...
I thought you corrected that "69" typo to "68", just like the article says.
Sheeeesh, even when you proof-read, you can't get the corrections right without your bifocals...
So go find them... NOW... they gotta be nearby somewhere...
i remember Johnny DeFazio (another fave of Grams) and the Crusher. what was it about the eastern european older ladies watching wrestling??
Hey, my uncle was the VCR technician there for YEARS! Maybe even when it was still WIIC.
Hmmmmm.
Dr. Bill Miller, George "the Animal" Steele ... and I was just a little kid, not an eastern European baba!
well i watched with my gram, and then Lawrence Welk came on. She also was a huge Merv Griffin fan!
I watched Bruno on local TV when I was a kid.
Looking for fashion tips maybe?
You mean County board Member John DeFazio(How soon we forget!)?
i remember the "Ring side Rosies" Even the wrestlers were afraid of those broads. They could open up a 55 Gallon drum of Industrial Strength Whoop @$$ on anyone.
i'd have HATED to be one of their kids
He was also one of my favorites too growing up and I told him that when we both boarded the same elevator after a County Council meeting a few years back. He smiled from ear to ear. Then he wanted to body slam me when I told him how disappointed I was that he was a liberal democrat.
Hmmm. I wonder if it's because of brain damage due to taking to many hits to the head in the ring?
i no longer live in the Burgh, so i had no idea he went into POLITICS! how funny! yet how sad he is a lib dem!
here you go!
