Father Lord we humbly seek your devine help through pray for our friends and family, in the name of Jesus, amen.

Becky update from Verna

Thursday afternoon, I was in Memphis so we went to the trauma hospital where Rebecca is. As we pulled up to the giant facility, and we were wondering where to go in, there was Rebecca's husband walking up the sidewalk! Great luck. He took us up to intensive care, and we were able to go in and see Rebecca. Her husband got on one side of the bed, and I got on the other, and I took her hand, and I said Rebecca, this is Verna. She immediately opened her eyes and started to move around a little bit. I told her that she had to get better and told her there were so many people praying for her, and then I started naming names of people who were thinking about her, Andrea, Jody, Sara, Valerie, Norm, Dudley, Gail, Glenn, all of the steering committee, and I told her Nick had even come to Memphis to see her last week. She began to cry, and then she really started moving around, kicking her feet back and forth, struggling to breathe. It scared me (I'm really a big sissy), so I told Jerry I thought he should call the nurse because Rebecca was really getting agitated and I didn't know if that was good for her or not (I knew it wasn't good for me). The nurse came in and said that Rebecca was okay, they had just removed her sedation because they wanted to see her responses without being sedated, and they said she is agitated because she is struggling against the ventilator, and also because she is in some pain and because she knew we were there and she was listening to what we were saying. They said it was okay to go ahead and talk with her, and so I stayed a little longer. Jerry massaged her feet that were very swollen, and he kept saying how good she looked, but actually, I got a little woozy from it all. She was very swollen to me. If she is better than what she was, I can't imagine how she was before! However, the good news is that she has had the ventilator reduced from 20 to 10, and they were shooting for 5 and that when they got to 5 they would try to wean her off the ventilator. So, I left feeling like Rebecca is going to make it if she doesn't get something else. She still needs the prayers, because she is going to be in the hospital a long time, and will probably have an even longer recovery out of the hospital.
