Do a Google for AVG Anti Virus. It's free and very good. Also, don't forget spyware. Download Spybot Search and Destroy (also very findable via Google).
Another one to definitely use is CWShedder. CWS, or Cool Web Search is spyware that will hijack your browser. CWShredder will find it and kill it.
