That sounds really nice! I wonder if it would work to stock it? You could have your own private reserve of fish!! I wish I could say we could go swimming in this one, but I know for a fact that alligators are (still) all too prevalent here (yes, even in Texas!!) and its so muddy and dirty, I am not sure I would enjoy it. Our family used to have property on the Guadelupe River in Sequin that we used for 4th of July picnics/family reunions; that, however, got usurped by people that were only nominally connected to the family and so now all the memories I had of that childhood are just that : memories. Hubby was almost willing to let this lot pass when it seemed we werent going to sell the house, but I got sick just thinking of it going to someone else.

Am jealous though : I bet it has lots of nice trees and nice water in it!

Alligators would be kind of cool to look at--at least to a Northerner like me who rarely gets to see them and finds them fascinating--but I wouldn't want to swim with them, either :) The creek/river is community-owned so any stocking has to be voted on. It's kind of swampish in places with a lot of reeds, etc. so it'd be hard to sustain a major fish population without some renovation--right now there's little stuff like bullheads and panfish mostly, I think, along with ducks. They were considering draining it and then refilling and stocking it but that was voted down (which relieved me because I don't want to lose the wildlife already there on that kind of gamble). Yes there a lot of trees--cedar on this side of the water, birch on the far bank. There are a lot of deer and turkeys and various other birds, mostly.
