Mmmm- had some last nite in El Paso. A little family-run hole-in-the-wall, cheap as heck restaurant. Muy, muy bien. The poor waitress couldn't speak any English, but we managed fine.
It was a little mild flavor-wise which was perfect for my companions. One of whom has declared Ray-lenos her new favorite food. She was extremely skeptical last time out when she had one on a plate. The expression on her face was priceless when she saw the little stem sticking out (it reminded me of the dinner scene in "The Temple of Doom"). "Is it supposed to have that???" she asked. Now that's all she orders.
Next trip I'll try to teach her to pronounce it correctly.
She don't eat tortill-lliyas with them ray-lenos does she? I shoulda known I was gonna have trouble with Myranda's dad when I married him and he didn't know what a tortilla was. *shaking head* Oh, the mistakes of our youth! Course it weren't that big a mistake... I got this awesome kid!
