Your news that there is A/M fiction out there disturbs me. I'd rather see a good Mary Sue than a slash of those two!

Disturbs me too...greatly! Not only that, but that so many of these slash stories are women. At first I thought it was just young women who had happy relationship with a boyfriend/husband/significant other, but then come to find out there are quite a few women who are older than me who are quite willing to fantasize about two men in an 'intimate' relationship. am I missing something? Do you think its because they are so unwilling to accept men as who they are and want so badly for men to be just like women that they consider two men acting like women towards each other a sign of love?????

I am really disturbed by it. Would much rathe have a Mary Sue myself!

Many, many years ago, I witnessed the birth of the first "slash" fiction, in Trekdom. K/S was all the rage in the late Seventies. I knew several of the K/S authors back then. They are exclusively female, most in their late twenties or older, celibate (or nearly so), in jobs that do not fully exercise their intelligence. The quality of writing in the "slash" stories is usually quite high; but almost none of the authors (with the notable exception of Gaylr Ferrer) has ever moved on to commercial writing, because they don't have the self-confidence/self-esteem necessary.

I suspect that all the "slash" fiction and authors out there follow the same paths. But, really, A/M? I mean, it was a hanging offense! Soooo illogical ...
