Yep, I think that's why this is working for me. For once I'm not constantly looking for my next sugar fix. And I'm slowly figuring out which foods are "safe" in that they don't lead me down that slippery slope again, but most whole grains seem to be OK...like I've been eating oatmeal made from steel-cut oats for breakfast, which doesn't make me crave anything later, and it's sooooo good!

I'm thankful I don't drink or smoke. Given the power sugar has over me, I shudder to think what other substances could do.

I've got a safe foods list, too. I'd been using a fabulous really, really, really raw and unfiltered honey to get my sweet fix. Then Feb came along, lost my Dad, started eating convenience foods because of the stress, and *bam*, I'm back in the sugar pit. Very frustrating.
